I am trying to build a chief/rhino with a dark saddle interior JK 2door. I am wondering why it is so hard to locate wranglers with the dark saddle interior. The standard black seems to be the only option on the dealer lots.
I feel you, I searched over 500 jeeps at 10 local dealerships in Atlanta metro area to find Rhino + Dark Saddle Interior. In the end, I just placed a custom factory order from one of the dealerships. I got a 14% discount off the MSRP ($6000 off). Now if I just find some Jeep ideas for Rhino color wheels, bumpers.
But to your point, all they have is black leather interior which is kinda boring to me. Like Gobi exterior and black interior is OK. But dark saddle interior (tan) looks sexy in so many exterior color combinations: white, black, rhino, silver, red just to name a few.

gogomrrobot, yeah we have been searching several states for Dark Saddle and they are so rare. We might have to order one like you did. Thanks for sharing your experience. How long did yours take to arrive?
It's week #3 since I placed my order, I got the VIN number finally yesterday. It will be between 2-3 weeks more for delivery the dealership is saying -- with the final confirmation once the car is received into Atlanta region.
Dark Saddle is not available until you get above the sport trim (sahara and rubicon). I sell these for a living, and most times affording a new sport model is too difficult. When we place a factory order, Toledo has it done inside of 4 weeks. Placing a factory order is the best way to go. Black is a universal interior. Cheif in saddle would be a unique combo, one that most would decline and Jeep would collect dust. The other day a customer took delivery of an ordered two door sahara. It was that sand color with saddle guts, half doors and soft top, and a stick shift. It had all the equipment he wanted, and none of the stuff he did not, and his name was on the window sticker. Building a Jeep doesn't cost any extra money, it may save you money, and it is literally a custom build from the factory. I love doing them.
Dave, since you sell Jeeps, I have a question. It seems like the majority of lot jeeps have the 3:21 ratio when 3:73 is the sweet spot. Why do the dealers lean toward ordering without the 3:73
I ordered rubicon with amaretto leather for that same reason. I find it a much better color (darker) than saddle. From order to delivery about 6 weeks.
I like the seats AND the dash to be Dark Saddle vs just the dash being saddle. I also like the chief style/rhino color like this photo but it doesn't look like I can even order that interior with the chief/rhino on the jeep site. It defaults to black interior when I choose chief style.
Love that interior color in a Jeep! I've owned nothing but Saddle leather since it first appeared in 2012: in my 2012 Dozer, 2013 Commando, 2014 Dune and in my current 2015 Tank. Creates a more striking contrast.
Today's generation of auto buyers is scared to step outside black or charcoal interiors, and from shades of black, gray, silver or white exteriors.
Thanks to Jeeps we don't live in a black-and-white world. But even among us it is difficult to find Saddle interiors.
Yes I did get a window sticker that said $42,700.00
BTW, I attached my full quote sheet from Don Jackson Dodge Jeep. It even has the salesman name and contact info (Felix Brown).
About the tax -- so it's 7% in GA. I was off by about $50 too on the calculation until I realized they took the $36,700 + $599 (doc fee) + $98 (elec filing fee) = $37,397. 7% of that is $2617.79 in taxes exactly.
Arghh! Those stupid doc fees.
Anyways, I got $6K off and I thought I did well... but heck I think you can get more. Maybe try for about $6,500 off to offset that doc fee.
