Chrysler be damned....

So I bought my beloved jk freedom edition expecting it to come with standard alpine system as mentioned on the website..... It came with stock system though ...now chrysler tells me these are guidelines and they are not obligated to fulfill all .... Any suggestions.

Sorry, I can't zoom in on those images to be able to actually read them. Could you possibly upload them somewhere else where they can be viewed in higher resolution?

That's the package details I was given with my order back in September. I had to use it to fight for my mineral grey wheels, which they discontinued AFTER I ordered. There's nothing about a stereo upgrade on that list though. Sorry.

Sorry, I just figured out what list you were looking at.

All that seven speaker line item covers is the STOCK Alpine speakers that come in every base stereo package. To get an amp and a sub, you have to ADD the PREMIUM Alpine UPGRADE.

I believe stock is alpine as well, you would have to purchase the version of alpine you want to pay for which is extremely expensive. You can purchase a better aftermarket then the premium alpine for less money.

I think I counted 6 speakers only . Shouldn't the seventh be the sub.. Here are better resolution imageshttp://www.jeep.com/hostc/bmo/CUJ201...mpareModels.do

Is there a way to add an amp for the speakers as well as for a sub, obviously change the speakers too all without wire splicing..

I'm not sure what the seventh speaker is. There's probably some tiny speaker for the idiot chimes that they are counting in that number.

You can add an amp and a sub, but 1) I don't think you can do it without splicing wires, and 2) I don't think the head has the proper controls to run most amps/subs. I'm not a stereo genius though. We knew we didn't want the stock radios after tons of research, so we both ordered our jeeps with the base 130 and planned to upgrade aftermarket. Mike's jeep is done and it sounds amazing! I'm hoping to upgrade mine soon.

Kicker makes a couple of models that are truly plug and play - no splicing needed because they use the exact same connectors as the base stock speakers. One of those speaker models, the 77Kick10, is an actual Mopar part, and they normally go for around $70/pr brand new on eBay. If go you to quadratec.com, I believe they have the other model for same (I can't remember the model number).

I replaced the stock speakers in my sound bar last weekend. It's a piece of cake. I have the absolute base deck in my Jeep, the 130 or 170 or whatever the part number is, and no sub. The Kickers were a nice enough upgrade that I now do not feel the need to change the stereo. However, I am trying to decide if I want to rip half of my dash apart to switch out the front speakers.

The Premium Alpine system was always an upgrade on the Freedom Edition. Only Sahara and Rubicon Editions received them as stock equipment. Quite honestly, you're not really missing out on anything because the Alpine Premium system is pretty crappy. You're better off adding an aftermarket amp, speakers, and subwoofer. If you are planning on keeping the factory head unit you will need something like an LC6i or a 3sixty3 because they provide pre-outs and tuning capabilities.

The website listing posted by the OP does say:

"Standard Alpine Seven Speaker Sound System" (Not "Premium Alpine")

So, according to that list, you should have a 7th speaker in the back. The sub-woofer is the seventh speaker.

But.... the only list of equipment that matters is your window sticker. Everything else is subject to change at the manufacturers whim!

If a seven speaker system is listed on your window sticker, Chrysler will have to make it good...

If not, let the buyer beware!

My count is the 2 dash tweeters, the 2 'sport bar 'bass' and the 2 mid range -----forgot where I saw 'em....but the sub woofer IS the 7th on mine.

Often an inconsequential space waster, yet when I take it out I seem to find reason to put it back in eventually.

The only time recently my sound has been 'decent' even on FM was a city trip yesterday....and even then the play list wasn't of anything I liked anyway...so mostly I drove around town with the windows open marveling in the break in late-monsoons.

My issue is more a matter of principal ,why promise something if you won't fulfill .... Just out if curiosity I checked several other freedom edition cars and they all came with the standard 6 spk config yet jeep.com insists the 7 spk alpine system is standard on the freedom... I want chrysler to step up and honor their faulty advertisement .

If you want Fiat-Chrysler to deliver what an ad promised, you know what to do.

Go attorney shopping and find one that is interested in a class action.

I just checked Jeep.com and it doesn't mention the Alpine as coming standard on either the JK or JKU FE and it has to be selected in the options. And even on their Freedom Edition page it isn't mentioned. Under standard features it just states the 6 speaker system. Like Bill said, if it's on your window sticker then you should get it.

I understand you want to get what you feel you were promised but truth be told that sub woofer in the back is no more than a waste of valuable space. Mine is hidden inside a tuffy security deck along with a day bag right up against it, not getting much sound out of it now and honestly I didn't get much bass out of it without the obstructions.

The website is a marketing tool, just like a brochure and is prone to mistakes. It was up to you to check the vehicle against the window sticker not the web site.

So I just got a call from jeep corporate office that the case is closed and if I want to hire a lawyer to further seek action I am welcomed to do so .... I think I'll just give up and pay the money for a kicker upgrade or so

And that is one of the problems with this country ... you say /advertise something then you should be held to it.

False/Misleading advertising is rampant because over time the laws that were put in place to stop it have been neutered. We really should be forcing the issue in order to make it better but we as individuals cannot fight the mega-corps who will spend more money fighting a single lawsuit than just making things right.

Call them back and tell them you will be retaining legal representation. They are hoping you will give up. Bluff them back...it can't hurt.

If the window sticker doesn't list it then it doesn't matter what the website said. My guess is if you tell them you have a lawyer they will say fine bring it on. The only way you would have a case is if the window sticker listed it and it wasn't installed.

I generally don't like this solution but might I suggest "small claims court". You'll probably win by default as I suspect no one will show up to counter your arguments...of course, collecting might be a pain.

If you need your original window sticker, append your VIN to this link:

There is a maximum amount (usually $2500.) that you can sue for and no attorneys are allowed.

This is not a case of false or misleading advertising. It is simply a case of a misstatement on a website which falls into the same category as a mistake on an advertisement. Get over it and move on.
