Okay folks, I'm getting ready to buy a new Rubicon JK. I don't plan to do any extreme off-roading (minor easy trails here and there) and it will be my daily driver.

I like the extended lifetime warranty, but my question is which one should I buy, how much did you pay for yours and has it been worth it?

Please note: I am not mechanically savvy and have no space to do any work myself - please keep this in mind.

Optional Plans (again I'm only focused on extended lifetime warranty):

- Max Care: As I understand it, it's bumper to bumper - with the exception to things that wear out, such as clutch, breaks, etc. It does cover doors, tops, hinges, things like that though... in addition to of course the computer, drive-line and things that should not wear out.

- Added Care Plus: As I understand it, it covers everything except the computer/chips/hinges/doors/tops, etc. but it covers more than just the drive-train too. Not 100% sure on what those other things are just yet, I'll be doing more research to confirm. Any information you can pass on, is appreciated.

- Drive-Train Only: I'm not sure exactly what this is called, but obviously it covers everything drive-train related and the engine.

Any advice you can give me would be great - in addition to how much you paid for yours?

Thanks!

If you are going to get the lifetime warranty I strongly suggest you go with the MaxCare warranty. It covers the stuff most likely to break like the water pump, radiator, A/C components, ball joints, calipers, etc. It won't cover normal wear items like the body, tires, brakes, etc. but none do.

I had the MaxCare warranty on my 2005 Mercedes E55 AMG and it paid for itself many times over. Not once did they balk at covering anything.

Thanks for your feedback. According to the website, AC, Water Pump, Ball Joints Calipers, etc. are covered under the Added Care Plus - however there is a $100.00 deductible (per visit to the service dept, not individual job).

Looks like the only things not covered under Added Care vs. Max Care is:
- Manual Interior Mechanisms:
Front Seat Manual Height Adjuster
Front Seat Manual Track Adjuster
Seat Base Riser
Seat Belt Shoulder Height Adjuster/Knob
Seat Lumbar Adjuster
Seat Recliner Assembly
Stow'n Go Seat Mechanisms
Swivel'n Go Seat Mechanisms

- Safety and Security:
Air Bag Clock spring
Air Bag Sensors
Door Lock Cylinders
Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder
Passenger Airbag
Seat Belt Assemblies
Trunk Emergency Release Cable And Mechanism

- Body:
Adjustable Cup Holder Mechanisms
Center Console Door, Hinge And Lock
Convertible Top Cylinders, Lines And Hinges
Convertible Top Frame, Bows And Rails
Door Check Straps
Door Glass Tracks And Channels
Door, Hood And Trunklid Hinges
Hood Latch Release Cable
Hood Props
Liftgate Props
Spare Tire Hanger / Carrier
Spare Tire Jack
Washer Hoses & Nozzles
Wiper Arm Linkage

Based on this information, I'm actually now leaning more towards Added Care Plus, depending on the price difference between the two plans. The only thing I could think that would potentially be a problem is the soft top (I don't use a hard-top), but even then a new Soft Top isn't super expensive or hard to replace... at least it wasn't for my TJ.
