As most of us know, when your topless you have to have the speakers cranked up. I'm entertaining the idea of a small subwoofer 8" to install, any clever ideas to make it near invisible and out of the way. I just can't seem to find a decient spot without it getting in the way. ANY idea WILL be entertained
I've always liked the "rock" idea.. cause I'm a mineral and rock collector. Here's what I'm talking about.. If your jeep really isn't used much in the rear/cargo area.. and you want something to show off..
Just do a molded texture look with many types of outdoor speaker rocks etc.. So at first glance.. just looks like a pile of rocks in your cargo area.. but each rock has it's own speaker, amp etc.. just don't forget to include the rock looking dash kit and the rock shifter knob..
Now thats a better idea! mount two of the in the back and it looks like your ready for the drags strip.. or (assuming it's an outdoor style speaker) got a roof rack?.. mount those two on the roof.. or on the swing out spare tire/jerry can/storage box arm. It would filter in with the over all jeep look, Like your carrying allot of stuff for the trail.
I've had several different varieties of subwoofer mounts. I've had the bazooka bass tubes (they make a marine version) mounted behind the back seat. I've had single box enclosures. One of my favorites was a modified insta trunk that had the back removed so that speakers were mounted facing the rear seat. Which I still had some storage room. My favorite though was having 2 10" subs in the bottom cushion of the back seat. It took some modification, but there are some easy to follow videos online. But definitely don't mount the amp there cause you don't want it to overheat.
Yea. I've noticed the NO2 bottle but that would just look silly.
I'm only looking for 1 - 8" sub. I'm not looking to wake the dead with bass. Although I can't see a 9" tube for an 8" sub being a problem. I'll keep everyone posted on how it comes out.
Having subs on The roll bars would suck for the passengers in the rear. I couldn't imagine having my head right next to a sub. :bang head a million times a minute: literally.
Not in a 4dr. The rear roll bars are located more towards the trunk area. I wouldn't sub-ject anyone to that. Than again I'm not lookin for a bass that would rattle your teeth loose
An 8" doesn't require a lot of air space, make a flat mold of your rear door, then to a standard wrap over a ring, you can get great sound out of a small space that way. if you google how to fiber glass a sub woofer enclosure they are really easy to make. you can put an 8 pretty much anywhere by making a mold of an area and wrapping it.
I put an 8" in a fairly flat box around 18X12X4 from a good stereo shop. They put it on a long free wire and put velcro strips on three sides. Sticks to the carpet where ever I want it. Sometimes behind the back seat. Sometimes laying flat in the middle. Sounds best in the middle right behind the front seats, even enough wire to sit it on the ground out of the way for cleaning or getting the rear seat in and out. I love the setup. unk:
I built a removable sub/amp box that way i could just unplug it and take it out so it wouldn't get stolen. Got tired of doing that so i screwed in latches & locked it down, lasted 3 days. Fukn thief's!
I have been looking into Memphis audio subs. They have a sub with less than 3" of thickness in a 12" and 10". Can be mounted under the seats and take up almost no room. I had a memphis audio 12" sub in my truck before my JK and loved it. Quality sound for resonable price. Just throwing it out there if you wanted more bass in a small package.
I had this notion today of speakers like the ski boats use. They have the same issues he Wranglers have.
