c'mon snow

We are supposed to have a winter storm coming through tonight till tomorrow night. Possibly 6"-8" of snow. This will be my first winter with my jeep and i can't wait! I may just have to call in tomorrow just so i can go play.

That would make it feel like Christmas.

It's 72F here today and I am in my company vehicle. I think I will go for a top down ride tonight before it drops to 37 early tomorrow morning.

It's in Nebraska right now, and it's dumping a ton of snow right now. Maybe an inch or more an hour.

F that...

I don't want any snow.

Playing in the snow in 4wd is over-rated in the city. Find a parking lot....do some donuts for 30 seconds.....go home, shovel the driveway and sidewalk.

Oh....make sure you do the correct dance/combo of buttons to that your traction contol does not kick on when trying to donuts...it ruins all of the fun.

Id like to live in wisc. Used to spend almost all my summers up there when i was a kid. Took my quad up to hayward last year when i went fishing. Tons of trails, not sure about places for jeeps though.

Wish we would get some good snow. Problem is, when folks here see 1 flake, they go wild, supermarkets are empried out and accidents everywhere. Most of the time, the Ohio River keeps anything real good north of us and its all for nothing.

A Jeep has to better than the rear wheel drive full sized junkers (68 Bellaire, 71 Charger, 70 Lemans 72 Coronet, 79 Diplomat...my dad bought cars cheap and fixed them up)I drove in the 80s in Northern NY near Canada. I never had any problem driving them around after heavy snow storms, just had to go slow. Even though they were junkers we made sure we had decent tires on them. Being able to see in high wind "white out" conditions was more of a problem than traction.

My friends and I (from 16yrs to 18yrs old) would look for empty parking lots to do doughnuts in. The cops never bothered us. It was a great way to learn how to handle the car with loss of traction.

There was even a couple of kids in HS that drove Pontiac Fieros and one a Mustang GT. They weren't great but they still got around in them.

Kids now would think it impossible without FWD, AWD or 4x4 with traction control. Anti lock braking used to be how fast you could pump the brakes while fish tailing.

Yes I am Eh!

Funny story, once they raised the drinking age to 21 in NY, I was 17 at the time, we made many, many, many trips to Canada (Brockville, mostly) in that old Belaire. We would trade Designated Driver duties each trip and you had to explain to the USA Border guard why you had 5 passed out friends in the car with you at 4am trying to get back home. After explaining that we wanted to support the local dancers college dreams, they would wave us through with a laugh.

I'm right with you.

I would be happy if the only snow we had all winter was on Christmas Eve...3 to 4 inches of nice soft snow (no wind)...and all of it gone by the 27th.

Robdizzle - we are about 60 miles north of you. Weatherman is talking possible blizzard conditions. Thunder-snow, 1-2 inches per hour, 40 mph winds, blowing snow. Good times! Burning my last vacation day tomorrow. Promised my daughter we would take the new Jeep to BW3's during the first snow emergency (If they are open). The Governor has already declared a state of emergency in Wisconsin. I'm almost 46 years old and I still feel like a kid every time we get hit by a big storm.

Can't fault anyone for moving to a warmer climate. The cold can wear on a person.

No problem. Soon as you say Illinois people always think Chicago. Its a cool city but way too many people for me.
