Yeah, I miss my Corvettes/ Pantera/ GT-40, but

They're to impractical to drive nowdays--the jeep is-

No. I like the slower pace i drive now. I was always going too fast with my sports car. The Jeep has made me a better driver taking things slower.

I know some fellow Jeepers miss their fast car as they pass me on the highway like I'm standing still. And they're always white Jeeps for some reason.

I miss it but I still have it. It's in storage and I can't wait to take it out for a rip next summer. The Jeep is far more practical though. My 2-cents, keep both

I thought I would miss my Mustangs (I've had 5 of them). Every time I feel the longing, I remember one very important thing. I haven't had one single speeding ticket since I got my Jeep. It doesn't hurt any that I think it's just as much fun to drive.

I came from a modified WRX that I had for 10 years. Do I miss the quickness? Of course. But I always felt like I needed to drive fast in that car. Now with the Jeep, I find myself driving a lot more civilized and breaking the law less often.

No because i sold my car to get my bike (2008 cbr1000rr) and built a B6T ford festiva (3200$).

If you really miss the speed you will find a way to have it back. Ill have the jeep as a DD the festiva as a very fast beater, and the bike as the toy.

I miss my 2007 Mazdaspeed3 when I'm getting on the highway and when I'm on road trips. The turbo spooling up at about 2500 RPM and and going from 30 to 80 in about 3 seconds was fun, not to mention setting the cruise control at 80 and still getting 28mpg. However I don't really miss the car that much. The first time I took my Jeep on the beach I knew I had made the right decision.

I made the same switch and feel the same way. The Jeep is as much fun (a different kind of fun) with less stress.

Came from a small car as well. Only thing I miss is the gas mileage. It was hard parting ways but I realized 4 doors is better than 2 and the jeep is more practical and can go anywhere. I was so limited with my 2 door car that it drove me crazy not to mention how bad it is in the NY winters. Also the jeep helps me in my line of work too. So far I'm not regreting it but im sure at times ill miss my old car....but then I travel or hit the trails and beach with the jeep and forget all about it. Jeep is also more pleasant to travel in than a small car

Nope, and I've had plenty of legitimately fast cars.
I do miss my 05 GTO the most, but I wouldn't trade my Jeep for it.

Trading in our 2010 2SS Camaro today or tomorrow on a 70th 2dr..
All I will miss is the comfort at speed.. But I won't miss being "egged" on to race every time I drive, having NO room for passengers (even our kids!)
Taking my driver & 4-wood out of my bag to fit clubs in trunk..
Among plenty of other things... I've said before.. the 5th gen Camaro SS is ALOT of car for the $$.. It's just not for me

I kept my SRT8, but I find myself driving the jeep more. It's much less stressful.

+3. I guess it's WRX anonymous around here. I loved that little beauty. So much fun to drive, I'm not sure how I managed to keep it "shiny side up" the whole time I owned it. When we had our daughter, I knew that I would never be driving that way again with a child in the back of my car (or at home, for that matter). Priorities changed and I opted for a Patriot, with a secret longing for the JKU. A few years later I finally got what I wanted. My wife accuses me of having an early midlife crisis, but I told her this is far more economical than a hairpiece and a mistress...

No regrets here. There was a time where that small fast car made sense, now I get my jolly's driving differently (top and doors off through the mud!)

Here is a question....

When you come from a fast car...are you getting your JK's in manual?

My better half drives a Mercedes SLK230 Kompressor. Charged and fast as all get out. And if there is a dusting of the white stuff, I hear "Honey, I need a ride to work".... LOL. And I hate driving the thing - starts to shake around 130.....

I came from a slower, bigger and definitely louder car and I don't miss it at all.

I can lend you my '96 Dodge 4x4 for a month and you will think your Jeep is a sprint car...

I can honestly say my jeep makes me smile every time I drive it. I open the windows more, go topless as often as possible and enjoy the ride. My last car was stupid fast w/around 400HP, MB CLS550 and AMG package but I don't miss it a bit. My rubi is much more practical and just plain fun!

Fast cars are worthless when the road turns to crap, and I see them at the same stoplights anyway. The Jeep and the RV have thought me to slow down and enjoy the ride.

I turned in my Lexus IS350 for a JKU and never looked back. Just yesterday I was stuck because some accident happened ahead. So I put my Jeep in 4Lo and crawled over the curb and hill to the mall parking lot and got around it. AFAIK the Lexus behind me is still waiting for the accident scene to be cleared :-)

Intersting thread for me, thanks for starting it.

I owned a YJ for 7 years in the 90's. I adored it, but it crapped out and I moved on (and the dealership treated me so horribly with the "repair" that I swore I'd never own another one).

I drive a P5 now, which isn't the fastest car, but still tight in the corners and really fun to drive. For the last couple years, I was SURE I wanted a Speed3 or WRX or something very close to that for my next vehicle, but I've also been terribly missing my YJ, too (it sucks being a Gemini...stupid twins are always fighting).

Right now, a new Wrangler is winning out by far for me and one of my concerns is that I might miss the speed and handling of a sporty car. Nice to see that you former "speedsters" aren't regretting your choice.

So, I only need my P5 to crap out on me and I'm good for the JK...too bad it turns out a P5 is hard to kill.

JK Manual. I notice I don't rush when driving anymore. I enjoy the feeling. Waiting on the snow to play.
