Hello all, so I am ready to pull the trigger on a new vehicle to replace my Acura MDX Advance. I will still have limited access to it, but it will become my wife's daily driver. I have always loved jeeps and wanted one but never had the opportunity to get one until now.
Our budget allows me up to $550 per month, so it also opens open a few other options. I always wanted a Jeep and see that a Rubicon would fall in my price range, but I'm not sure if I will regret the purchase. My other options are something in a similar class to my Acura, ex. BMW 328d xDrive Sport Wagon, Audi Allroad, Lexus RX, Mercedes GLK. Or even a little outside the box with a Ford F150, I was really impressed with the 2015 Platinum.
Two buddies have Jeeps and love them, one with a Sahara and one with a Sport, although one of them still has his Audi for road trips and such.
I don't plan to do much off roading, although it would be nice. I just don't have much time. But, it would be nice to drive home after a stressful day at the office with the top off.
If I won't be doing much trail or off roading and just need it for a daily driver with the possibility of driving some camping trails on occasion will I regret going with the Jeep? No disrespect meant at all, I actually love the Jeep but I am also am trying to be realistic about my daily use and expectations as I will also have to make use it for long business related road trips.
I love the safety features I have on my MDX, as far as Adaptive Cruise, Blind Spot Detection, and Collision Mitigation but I was told that some of those features may make their way to the Jeep models soon and that Jeeps are much safer than they used to be for daily driving and highway/interstate travel.
My heart says Jeep, and I am strongly considering a Sahara or Rubicon Unlimited, or even waiting for the diesel. But my head is a bit confused so I figured I would run it by this forum in case others have also made this leap. I will need to depend on my new vehicle as it will be my primary business vehicle but it would be nice to have a fun vehicle too. Any input would be appreciated.
