Confused!

TPMS in the spare or no? I've been hearing both yes and no.

My 2011 came with a TPMS in the spare.

Yes and no. There is a sending unit in every tire, including the spare. But, only spinning tires are read. So, low spare psi doesn't set off light.

It's in the spare, but I believe it's inert unless you mount the tire and roll with it.

I've heard a # of conflicting things, but I've got a Procal so it's a moot point for me.

I recently had my stock rubi tires mounted on new rims and noticed that the new as well as the old rims required a lot of weights for balance. Now I realize they are mud tires, mild or not. Question is do the tpms sending units cause the tires to require 5oz of weight. I'm going to have them 180 the tire but being as the stock rims had almost the same weighting I was curious.
