How is it to tilt back? Does it really give enough room to open the soft top? How about the Sunrider? Does it come with the prop-bars like it shows in the installation instructions to prop it up while tilting it?
I read it didn't really fit real nice and tilting and un-tilting was a pain in the butt.
I am really leaning towards this set-up so I can take my Jeep and my kayak across country next year.
I am also thinking there is no reason I can't just leave the kayak strapped to the cage (not using crossbars just strapping it to the cage) when I'm tilting it to open and close the top. The boat only weighs 55 pounds and I'm just tilting it back to drop the top. Thoughts?
How about aftermarket rear bumper? I have stock right now. I plan to get an aftermarket one day. I wonder if that will interfere with the cage.... hmmmm
Thanks again in advance...
Pics for you.
I built the basket myself. A lot cheaper. My wind deflector is attached to the basket. If you are only putting the cage on with no basket, maybe you could make a bracket that could attach to the front cross member which would have a wind defector on it.
To tilt it back you do have to unbolt the front section. Only 2 bolts. Would take about 3 minutes. Yes it does come with a prop bar to hold the cage up. As for the tilting, i don't have an issue with it. Have heard some do, but mine is easy. And yes i think you could leave your kayak on and still tilt the cage.
As for the bumpers, not sure. Mine is stock.
