Connectivity group....

I'm looking at purchasing either a Unlimited Sport S or a Unlimited Willys Wheeler W. I'm not a big cell phone user while driving,,,,,,it comes standard with the Willys but is it something I can't live with is I go with the Sport S ?

Any other benefits to getting the Connectivity Group?

It was a must for me.

The package has changed over time, but I think it still includes a USB port and EVIC as well. (At one time it included the auto-dimming mirror with LED map lights, but I think that has become a standard feature on a lot of models.

Audio streaming, EVIC, and the USB part are all nice to have.

The extra USB in the center console, plus Bluetooth audio streaming and iPhone/iPod controls made it a must for me.

I was skeptical of the Bluetooth calling at first with all of the noise but have made calls with the top down at 60mph and other end only asked of my windows were down since they could hear some wind noise.

Unless things have changed for the '15 MY, the connectivity group supports bluetooth phone use, but not audio streaming. (Unless you get the 430n or 730n, OR use the usb connector in the console). I have the standard radio, but got the connectivity group because of bluetooth phone. I would have liked streaming audio via bluetooth, but I wasn't going to pay the extra for the upgraded radio/nav, and since I plug into the usb port, it works out just fine.

Hmmm....you should be able to stream if you have connectivity with the 130.

I have a '14 with the standard 130 radio and connectivity group and I can stream music from my iphone through bluetooth. First turn on bluetooth on your phone, open an app like pandora or music and start playing a song (thats an important step) Next switch your radio to "DISC AUX" and you should here pandora switch over from playing on your iphone to playing through your jeep's audio system. Adjust your phone's volume to as high as it adjust the jeeps accordingly. I know this works with pandora, im sure it works with youtube or just saved music on your phone but it doesnt work right with 8tracks.

Hopefully you can get it to work now. Good luck, let me know if it works for you.

Edit: or you could just attach your iphone to the USB in the center console and press play. Had to double check that route worked before I posted it.

We got it on our 14 for the EVIC. It came in handy pulling a trailer thru the mountains and being able to see temps of engine and trans.

Well I'll be. My dealer lied to me. I never tested it or attempted to try streaming audio through bluetooth, and I checked it this afternoon, and it works. I'm going to assume that they told me that in the hopes I would upgrade to a 430n or 730n, but really only bluetooth for the phone was important to me. Now I can plug into a real usb charger and stream via BT.. Thanks guys..

How were you able to that on the EVIC?

The only 2013's that have the option/feature are the 10A's. That feature wasn't "unlocked" for Wranglers with EVIC until the 2014's rolled off the line. Pat had a tech working on trying to unlock it (something about some 2013's could be unlocked), but it never happened.

Does the EVIC give the oil and transmission fluid temps?

It was one of the features of the connectivity group package.

I don't use the Bluetooth very often, mainly because it never works right. I can dial a call, it'll say call connected, and then take it off the speakers. Phone will show I'm still connected to Bluetooth and the person will be talking on the line but it's like the Bluetooth cuts out. It never hangs up calls right either...

Do you happen to have an Apple iPhone?

Its well know that Apple is arrogant enough to not follow the Bluetooth spec/protocol, while Chrysler's head units expect such to be followed exactly and are unforgiving if not.

My Iphone connects flawlessly for phone calls, receiving and making. What it wont do is read or make texts, nor will many other phone makers, I believe the beloved Samsung S-whatever included....
To ssramage, it sounds as if your phone hasn't designated u-connect as the default audio source.

I have an iPhone 5 and it connects flawlessly as well. Not once have I had an issue the last two months receiving or making calls. Only issue is the voice activation which seems to not understand my English
Also no issues streaming music through Bluetooth, works great as well.

Apple does follow the bluetooth protocol, they signed on as a sponsor.

People keep repeating things someone else said.

Apple stores messages in a different folder setup than what Uconnect expects. That's why they don't work from an iPhone. If you get a new head unit (ex. pioneer 4000NEX) that supports Siri eyesfree, it appears to work flawlessly, from the videos I watched on youtube.

There is another guy here on the forum, xsdbs, who works for a cellular company. He's explained the reasons why Apple Phones don't work correctly several times. He's gone I to the actual source code and shown examples of what things are doing and why they don't comply. He's really knowledgeable about all things cellular/Uconnect.

Yes he is very knowledgable and I've read his posts, he was referring to the texting aspect of Apple not working with u connect though, not phone connectivity.

My daughter has the pioneer head unit in her liberty, you are correct they work with all functions of iPhone and seri.

I think he also talked about the Bluetooth streaming packet model and why iPhones will occasionally drop a packet (sounds like a small skip in the playback), but I can't remember the technical explanation as to why.

Does your daughter like the pioneer? Mike has the previous version (8500BHS) and he could never get all the functionality to work (AppRadio mostly) so I've been trying to decide if the NEX is really worth it.

Thanks!
