Was dead set on the Cooper STT Pros for a while until I came across the DC Extreme Country today. Going to be doing mainly highway driving, looking at 35s. Any recommendations? I like the fact that the DCs are cheaper.
I was dead set on the STT Pros, too... but then Rod (Pressurized) mentioned the DCs to me. My 34's are 59lbs, were cheaper, and have been great (on road and off).
i just got a set of 295 70 18 stt pros are they look sooo damn aggressive in person. I cant wait to get them on. I cant see anyone not being happy with the look of them. They seem to measure at a little over 33.5 mounted.
Can't go wrong with either. The DC is Coopers latest design and has an E rating with a 2 ply sidewall. This gives it a distinct weight advantage over the 3 ply tires... I haven't been on them, but I also expect them to ride better than the STT Pro.
can i throw two more tires into this discussion? what about the mickey thompson MTZ and deign 38? i know they are cooper owned but is there any difference? i am having sooooo much trouble deciding on tires. narrowed down to those four. which is the quietest on road?
I was considering getting a separate set of tires in the 35/1250r15 DC Extreme Country (on sale at 4wd.com). They're a C2 load rating. And getting 15" chrome rims but just don't want the 3.75" backspacing. I found a couple in 4" and 4.25". Not much choice in 4.5" or higher. Grinding the calipers wouldn't be an issue, I just don't want my tires to stick way out and local inspection laws would be a problem.
Running 35" Pros on mine at 30. Definitely better than the initial 38 the shop put them at. Loving the smooth ride and road noise is much better than other MTs I've ran in the past.
okay.....been looking at tires for what feels like 4 years now. possibly decided on DC extreme country but really want to hear how loud they are on road. anyone? please help before wife and kids take computer away and just decide for me. they won't stop yelling.
