Corner light removal

Hey guys! I know there is probably a thread out there for this somewhere but I searched and I can't find it... how do you remove the corner lights on a 2010 JK? I know it has something to do with a clip but either I can't squeeze it hard enough or there is more madness to the method.
Thanks
J

Is this to replace the lenses/bulbs?

Yea, that's on my wish list. Gonna order them after i finish tinting all the windows.

I found this using the googles, let me know if it helps.
Quote:
Remove the bulb/ wire plug first, there is a plastic rivet that holds the inner and outer fender together at the leading edge, just below the marker light... you need to pop out the center of the rivet with a small probe/nail/allen wrench or the like (you REALLY have to push on it to get it out) hang on to that little ribbed plastic rivet center, you'll need it to put the rivet back in place, then remove the rivet body. after that the inner part can be flexed in and down to pop the tab that holds it to the outer portion loose. after that i think there was two tabs that held the light lens in place i think you had to squeeze those & then finaggle it out.

I did this when i put on the RR little useless guards. It sounds complicated, but it took about 5 minutes to do per side, hardest part was getting that damn rivet to pop out.

looks good! i still haven't gotten those damn corner lenses in.. just the front ones... don't really want to tackle that rivot. thinking about just breaking it apart and then ordering new ones. focusing this week on installing headrest tv's [on my 9 days of summer vacation] and a lockpick. looking forward to it.

It really wasn't that bad. You just need a rivet remover (like $5 at Home Depot) and TBH, the one rivet that looks like it might not be reusable, dude a package of replacement rivets is $0.45

Just yank it and you'll be kosher. It's worth it, they look sharp IMO.

whoa. top of the flares!?!

nonono, it's all from under the flare. I should have taken pics during the process for you...damn it.

there is a lining to your fender, with 4 or so rivets. yank those 4 and peal back the liner. i'll take some pics of the rivets when i go out for lunch today.

I got it out this way without issue.

Take a small screwdriver from the backside and jam it towards the tire well.

Worse case scenario just break the rivet off, run to Home Depot and pick up another one. They only cost around a buck. I had the same problem, ended up accidentally breaking the rivet. Didnt even try with the other side, just broke the rivet right off.
