Courtesy Lights

Every vehicle I have ever owned has had courtesy lights that come on inside the vehicle when you first get in and when you shut off the engine. The JK does this when you first get in but not when you shut off the engine. This leaves you in the dark scrambling for your belongings. Is there a setting or switch to change this?

I've never known a vehicle that turns on the interior lights when the engine is shut off. On any of the vehicles I've ever owned you either have to open a door or turn the dimmer switch all the way to the ON position. It's the same way with my Wrangler.

Both my 2012 and my 2014 have all the lights come on when you shut off the engine and remove the key.

^^^The lights in my 2013 also come on.
There maybe options as to how to program them?

Hmm...I know the headlights stay on for a while, I've never noticed that the interior lights do it, too. I guess I'm the type that when I turn the engine off I immediately open the door to get out.

X2 - Lights only come on when the door is opened. Read your owners manual and maybe you'll find there is a setting in the EVIC to make this happen.

and i thought courtesy lights were lights in the doors that come on to keep people from ripping your doors off when you open them.
