Greetings, I will be installing an OE crate engine in a 2008 JK Unlimited X. I'm looking for opinions on purchasing an aftermarket starter/water pump, vs MOPAR OEM. Any other instalation tips would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't replaced an engine in a Jeep but have in multiple Nova's/Mopars/Mustangs. I haven't always gone OEM but have always gone with popular aftermarket brands. Just do a lot of research before buying.
Actually had to buy a new fuel pump for my Nova the other night. The one that was on there was a no-name piece of crap. I've owned the car for a few years and have been working through a lot of Mickey Mouse stuff (a lot). I haven't been able to enjoy it yet, but I'm just about done replacing all the cheap parts with quality parts and it's a good feeling knowing I "shouldn't" have to worry about these parts for a long long time.
For the starter. Get a good brand name and get a new unit, not a reman. Denso are usually good, bosch as well. Water pumps I usually go with gmb, but I aim for contitech first.
