Cruise control issue

Hey gang, question. I will be cruising down the highway with the cruise control on ans if I hit a decent size bump in the road (our highways suck in ny) the cruise control will cancel out and I coast. The power for itis still on, and the icon is on the dash.
Is this common or a safety thing? My first two jeeps were 1981 renegade and 87 wrangler. No cruise back in the day.
Thanks gang. Love this forum.

Jim

Mine does it too. My liberty also did it. It's the ESP. it thinks your jeep is out of control and cancels out the cruise. I you just have to hit resume to activate it again.

Happened to me twice this weekend, haven't seen that happen before. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

Happened to me when I hit a really good bump. I wrote it off as a safety feature.
