Daily Driver

My commute is 110 miles round trip I wish I could use my Jeep as a daily driver!!!!!!! I make a descent living so switching jobs is out of the question! I cant get myself to drive my Jeep more than 1 time every 2 weeks to work, because of adding miles to it and economics of fuel consumption. But mostly adding miles to it...

Thanks for listening to what really kills me!

So all you people who can enjoy your Jeep daily count your blessings.

I think I have mental issues. HAHAHAHAHAH!

understand the issue...my "solve" was to move closer to work....but also see the other side of the coin there are a lot of people where I work that drive 30-50 miles one way and honestly some of them get home as fast as some of the people that live here in town but reside on the other side of town from work.

Some of them "car-pool" but that creates issues if one or someone gets sick at work, and needs to leave..some of them have purchased the little econo boxes and say what they save over "x-number of years" in fuel will pay for the cost of the vehicle and save lots of miles on the "less fuel efficient" other vehicle. I understand that as well...but honestly I bought my JEEP to DRIVE IT..and actually while I am "closer to work" the actual difference is only about 10 miles closer. but for me that was cutting my drive by 50%

My commute isn't as bad as yours but my weekend driving is through the roof with kids sports, there have been weekends where I have done right at 300 and that is staying local. I understand the part about the economics of fuel consumption but to me the miles aren't that big of a deal. I bought the Jeep to drive it and enjoy every minute I am behind the wheel.

BTW- I bought my Jeep on 3/29/2013 and I just turned 21,000 miles. Road trip for a soccer tournamnet this weekend so I will add another 1200 by Monday.

Jeep Wranglers have some of the best resale values of any vehicle sold in America. I previously owned a 2004 TJ that I bought used. Five and a half years and 50K miles later I sold it for what I paid for. That said, the cost per mile may be less than a vehicle with better mileage. I currently have 2 vehicles that I use for my commute and plan to dump the other one in favor of the 2014 Jeep.

You make a "descent" living? Do you drive down a mountain on the way to work each day?

I drive from Monument to Golden, CO every day. That is exactly 62 miles each way. It takes an hour each way unless an accident fouls up the traffic. Ironically, I'm allowed to work from home in bad days so the Jeeps actually don't go out in the really bad stuff - it's the "other" idiots on the road I'm worried about.

We have two JKU's - I've put 12k on mine since taking this job in March and 10k on the wife's as I switch vehicles a few times a week.

I find them both comfortable, easy to drive, and fun. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Having a new vehicle with warranty and letting it sit does not make sense. Any issues with bad heads, water pumps and heater cores (to name a few) will be on you as your warranty times out and you have not put any miles on it.

Drive it! Enjoy it!

Go drive it, it's my daily driver as well, I have to admit I don't make more than 6 miles per day to go to work, since I drive to a parking for public transportation (train) and commute that way... I wish I could drive it longer than that, hahahaha, I think I have mental issues as well... :-)

I only drive about 5 miles round trip to work daily, so we make up for it on weekends. The wife never drives her Encore on the weekends, we always take the jeep. I just had lower back surgery 12 days ago and we drove the Rubicon to and from the hospital, lol

Three miles one way for me with one light and one stop sign. I just sold my 2001 TG after it being my DD for eleven years and it only had 61,000 on it.

I think the JKU may get drove more.

110 miles is a long commute. But I would miss driving my Jeep. Driving my Jeep is one of my joys in life.

Drive your Jeep and enjoy life.
