Dashboard features

Hello,
I have the 09' Wrangler X. The cheapo among the line. The dashboard has the basis stuff. But the goodies like compass or mileage are not available. When the sunlight hits it right, I can see it is all there in the dash, just not either wired or hooked up.
Would someone know how to activate the full dash features on the X model ?
I called my dealer and they had no clues what I was even taking about !
Thanks.
Terry

Have you really checked to see what features you have? Push the button in your speedometer a few times to see whether you toggle through a compass, temperature reading, average gas mileage, etc.

Assuming you really don't have any of these items . . . .

At a minimum these would require a "computer flash," i.e., a dealer would have to reprogram your onboard computer to make those computations and display those features. There's been at least one post recently about somebody getting their computer "updated" at a dealer and viola! discovering new dash features.

What I don't know is whether you may also be missing some of the physical hardware. For example, if you don't actually have compass module, no amount of computer flashing will create one. The compass module, if your Jeep has one, would be located under your middle dash panel. You'll find a video showing how to remove this panel if you search this forum for "daystar panel," which is a separate product but requires you remove the middle dash panel to install it. That would be a simple check.

Ask daggo... I think he was the one who had his flipped on somehow by fluke when he didn't have the option either. He made a thread on it a month or so ago if memory serves.

I am on my phone so I can't link the thread. Anyway just search his name for threads mad and the thread is called "new feature just appeared".
Good luck!

I have the compass, but didn't have the MPG feature. That got turned on when I got a flash for the Uconnect.

First thing I would do, is look for the compass module above the radio. If it's there, you have hidden goodies.

Thank you guys. But with the X model, I don't even have the left button to push. So I guess, they really sell you a stripped car with that one !
Thanks anyway.

Yes, with the base X. I have the X with the 23S package. The X can be bare bones or equal to a Sahara minus the bumper inserts, dash inserts, painted flares, and 18" wheels.
