Those of you with the new JK's all know how the hood "flutters" when driving down the freeway. It seems that JEEP has figured out that by giving the front end a "little" rake, that the fuel milage would INCREASE about 2%. Unfourtunatly, this also makes the hood "flutter" at high speeds.

A few weeks ago, Daystar shipped me one of the new 'Hood Wrangler" kits. It was the newest addition to the Daystar line of products for the New JK Wrangler to install and test. Here is how it went. I can tell you now, it solved the problem 100%!!

Here is the complete hood wrangler kit. It includes 2 hood latch replacement pieces, 4 retainer bolts, and a tube of Loctite.

First thing to do to install these, is first remove the plastic retainer pins in the stock latch by using 2 pairs of vice grips. Grab one end with each pair of 'grips, clamp them down and TWIST!

Next, Remove the flimsy, stock rubber strap. Install the New HOOD WRANGLER piece by sliding the provided pin bolts through, and screwing the ends together. Make sure to use a drop of LOCTITE on the threads, they give it to you for a reason!!!

Do both sides and you are done in about 10 Min!! Best 10 min , 24.99 Mod you can do to your 07+ JK!!!

Check it out at www.absoluteoffroadphx.com or give Joe a call at the shop 602-248-8949

I pulled the spring off mine December of '06. The hood hasn't fluttered once since then. It's free and it fixed the problem.

The only reason the hood spring is on there is to lift the hood a little to make it easier for you to unlatch and lift the hood all the way up. A JK hood isn't that heavy.

The new spring on mine is very flimsy, when I unlatch the hood it does not pop up at all. I got it up to 80 yesterday and still no flutter. That's as fast as I feel comfortable going as the Rubi has such flexible tires and suspension it can be a chore to keep it in one lane, especially in a wind.
