Dealer been unable to fix water leak

My 2010 4dr Jk mountain has been back to the dealer twice for water leaks and it still leaks. The carpet is starting to get mildew and rust is forming on the back seat bolts. Any one have similar problems and what has jeep done for you. At this time I want to see if they will replace the Carpet with new carpet or the Mopar rubber matt liner. Each time I take it back they replace a seal in a different spot.

I would demand them to replace everything effected by it, as well as the top.

Doesn't the lemon law state that if something in the car is repaired 3 times for the same problem under warranty and its still causing an inconvenience you have the right to demand a replacement as long as its within 2 years of when you bought it and its under warranty?

Here's what I found:
Quote:
It is further the intent of the Legislature to provide the statutory procedures whereby a consumer may receive a replacement motor vehicle, or a full refund, for a motor vehicle which cannot be brought into conformity with the warranty provided for in this chapter.
I'm pretty sure it needs to be repaired 3 times and still have the issue for it to be considered as "cannot be brought into conformity".

Regardless, I would give them hell. I'm sick of the Jeep dealers half-assing everything to save them money. Itll end up costing them more at the end to replace the carpet and clean the rust then to have just replaced the soft top or fix it right the first time.

The carpet can and should be covered under warranty. I would ask the dealership what type of water test they have been doing. That way they can actually pinpoint the right spot and fix it.

We use this with an adjusting nozzle so we can try to duplicate when the top leaks.

Dealers don't pay for the carpet to be replaced. Chrysler does.

i had the same problem with mine (minus all the rust and mildew) The carpet was SOAKED and it became frozen and is ruined, so i brought it back to the dealer when my appointment was scheduled and of course the "specialist" wasnt in that day, after a few tries, i finally got the problem addressed and they plugged up the drain plugs and said they owe me a carpet but still tried charging me 208.50, needless to say i did not pay a cent of that and i got in writing that they owe me a carpet (b/c i cannot get it replaced right now) it seems as if alot of people are having the same problem and it is frustrating to see considering how much $ the car is worth. I also noticed a rather large level of dampness in the storage compartment in the trunk. I have a battery charger, a can of bug spray and a flashlight in there. The bug spray and the battery in the maglite are both rusted from the amount of moisture in it, it seems to be a little ridiculous

I use petroleum jelly on the seals and it stays water-tight. Leaked like crazy before.

Which seals on the door or on both the door and soft top.

Petroleum jelly is an oil based lubricant. I would use a silicon based lubricant. Currently, I just keep them clean using Turtle Wax Interior Ice and that seems to put a small amount of some type of lube on them that makes them look wet and they seal very well after treating them with the product. I'm guessing that there is some silicone in the cleaner by the way it leaves the rubber seals looking. Anyway, seems to get good results.
