dealer perform mods?

My 2012 JKU should be here shortly. I will be adding 33" tires and different rims-also aftermarket rock rail and a 2" lift kit..my question: will a dealer install these items before i take delivery? And will they do it for free? For example will they switch out the tires/rims for free? I dont expect them to install a lift kit for free or even the rock rails-but any idea what they would charge to install those type of items? Thanks

I wouldn't expect them to do much for free, and really expect to pay more from them for any service... unless you have it in writing in your contract...

Free? It'd be up to them, but I'd be pretty surprised.

Most likely you'll be wildly overcharged compared to the rate of doing the work yourself (obviously) or having a local 4x4 shop do it.

I have a little mom and pop (well, actually Senor and Senorita) tire shop near my house that will swap and balance 4 tires for $50. You might shop around with the little guys first.

I know my dealer will not do anything for free... like they say, "They will even put on their steel toe boots before they kick the customers a$$ out the door.
The word is these guys pride themselves on selling cars at MSRP or above.
I have some contacts in the service department and will have the parts installed at a much lower price. My buddy hooked me up with my salesman plus I also have the TL pricing.

Unless you wrote it into the sales contract, they're not going to do it for free. They'll overcharge you and probably not do the best of work anyway.

YUP! I wrote a couple of things into the sales contract that were Mopar parts and not on the JK when I bought it. When the parts got in, they installed them for free. But, like he said, I wouldn't have them do anything from this point forward.

I like my dealership for what they do and their demeanor but I'd never pay their prices for stuff I don't need to have done there. Stay local with guys you trust..or do it yourself. I'll likely stay bone stock for a while.

When I purchased our JK the dealer agreed to buy back my OEM wheels/tires and to buy and install my Daystar budget boost. When they were done they even drove it to the tire/wheel shop for me.

If I understand this correctly, you are buying new tires and wheels from a 3rd party and want the dealer to swap out with the factory wheels and tires. As long as the new tires are already mounted on wheels and balanced from where you purchased them it should be a simple no-charge task for dealer to swap out. 10 minutes of shop work up on the lift. Make sure you sell your factory set like on craigslist.
