Dealership trades

So I thought I would trade in my 08 jeep rubicon for a 2011 unlimited rubicon with all the options minus leather and side airbags. Now after finding 3 silver ones, tried to get dealership to get one in but no dealerships would bite. Why is that?finally said the heck with that and just ordered on from the factory. Was paying cash was so disgusted with our dealer. Side note. Same week also bought 2 other new jeeps ( liberty). Damn dealer could of had 3 from us. What's up with dealerships nowadays? Or was mine just a crappy one?

I'm confused. If you order it from the factory, you're still buying it from the dealer.

The dealer with the Rubicon doesn't have to trade it to another dealer. If inventory is low, or if the dealer with the Rubi knew thay had one of the only ones in the area it makes sense for them to keep it.

If your dealer tried to get it than you can't really be mad at them. We all have quotas and if this was your third vehicle from them than I am sure they would have exhausted all options before ordering one. It wouldn't make sense not to try to get the Rubi you wanted now instead of waiting on an order.

the good thing is you are getting exactly what you wanted and you know for sure no one else has test driven it, it hasn't been sitting on a lot, and the longer we go into the model year the better chance of seeing some incentives.

Well update this am, the dealer that wouldn't trade called me direct and offered 1500 less than my dealer was going to offer above and beyond everything else and I'll get the top end nab/cd/DVD unit. Guess all will work out.

I tested the waters a few weeks ago but my dealer's trade offer on my modded '08 Sahara was so low I just laughed.
He who cares the least, wins.

I was looking at a loaded Power Wagon though. Cash too.

BTW --- dealers get kickbacks on financing; cash customers don't rank as highly as finance customers to them.

Always arrange your own financing if you need it.... Dealers offer it as a means to make money for them, NOT to help you.

It's a very common misconception. People think they should be treated like royalty because they are paying cash. It's actually more trouble for the dealer. Lots of paperwork to file.

Here's the real deal.

Get approved on your own thru your own bank so you know what interest rate you will be at.

dealers get a subvented rate thru many banks and mark them up to make reserve. If your dealer has a lending agreement with your bank than ask them to match it, thus making everything easier. (no need to go get a check at your bank and then go back to the dealership)

Chances are most dealers can get a lower rate thru the banks than you can on your own. Have seen it happen all the time. So don't rule out financing thru a dealer, just do your due diligence.

Lastly any good dealership won't care if you pay cash or finance. They just want the deal.
