That sucks you had head problems. I heard there have been problems with some of the nee motors I have the pentastar in my 11 Grandcherokee and have been very happy with it. No problems at all and MPG in the low 20s.

I haven't "officially" had the issue, yet. Hopefully all those who have had theirs replaced will be good for at least 300k mi.

Has there been any indication that Jeep addressed the ticking for the design of the 2013s?

I read in another thread that someone heard from an "inside source" that they still don't have a handle on the situation...and that some heads have even been replaced more than once. Does not sound good. That said, in years to come I suspect that used 2012s will have a bad rep...just for this reason. Whether or not that applies to 2013 models remains to be seen.

I've been price shopping with the cars.com android app. The basic sport models start at around 20k but they apply all incentives to that price. Doesn't do me any good since I don't qualify for any of them. Kind of makes me mad they do that.

I've figured my approximate out the door price on a 2013 factory order with tread lightly chrysler affiliate program discount. I hacked a few grand off of that and sent my 2012 offer to tons of dealers in the area. I have until late October for the new Commando Greens to hit the street, and I'm not going to order a 2013 before then. That gives me some time to let my offer stand with the dealers. We'll see if any dealers can work with my price for a 2012 before that date!

There was a redesigned head that they got into production for July 2012 and are currently using for existing repairs. Before the redesigned head, head replacements were using the original-design head. The big question is have any of the redesigned heads developed issues or is that the "final fix"? I'm waiting out my purchase until Jeep makes some official explanation that doesn't sound like a politician glossing over the facts. I was just talking to a friend about this and I'm glad he had leaning on the Hemi for my Grand as some Pentastar Grand owners are going through the same thing as some Wrangler owners.

Any deals in Canada?
The Jeep offer is $3,000 off of MRSP at 4.79%

I'm using unhaggle.com to get to an approximate invoice price (~$3000 less than MRSP.)

Next week I'll start the real deal with the dealer.

Will a dealer be more likely to throw in Mopar parts or oil changes, than lower the price?
