decal application

ordering a couple custom decals from pixeldecals.com

Did you (if you) order the decal application thingy's (liquid and squeegy)? Are those necessary? How did you put yours on?

Thanks in advance

I put all my decals on dry. If you get a big decal like a hood blackout I would do it wet. I have a vinyl cutting plotter and make my own decals and have been making signs, banners and lettering tow trucks for over 10 years now on the side. With all the decals I've installed I've never used the wet method but I will be trying it when I do my hood blackout.

Depends on the decals you are putting on. I've done lettering as well as Jeeps stars that are 16" and I use an old ID card and an Exacto knife. Never used the wet method. The knife is good to remove small air bubbles you can't get with the ID card. Here is a video I found a few months ago. I didn't order from these folks but the video was pretty good.

The smaller ones, you can put on in one shot and you are good. If it's a larger decal, you wan want to use soapy water so you can position it before it sets.

I bought two of the "Rock lizard" decals from pixeldecals.com. I used the soapy water method. Worked very well, but you have to be patient when removing the backing; you have to give it awhile to dry before doing so. Did not trust myself to put it down dry. The decal was small enough, where I squeegeed it out using the back of my thumbnail.

you also want to use a very small amount of soap vs water in your mix otherwise you can be waiting all day for the vinyl adhesion to stick again.
