Design flaw

I just found out the hard way that with the doors removed, water running off of a hardtop falls inside the vehicle.

Then take the top off and don't worry about it. Problem solved.

Well of course. You have a giant hole in the side of your Jeep where the doors used to be

You wouldn't like the aesthetics too much if the door sill/rocker was narrower than the top. No real good way to avoid that man, just how it is.

I've noticed even with my doors on, just opening it after a good rain soaks the interior. Its like it pools and soon as I open the door it falls right in on the seat....but oh well, just another quirk about it.

I don't feel like you should expect to keep completely dry when you have a giant hole where your doors used to be... It's the joy of owning a jeep! Just my 2 cents.

But I'm sure you could rent the giant traveler's insurance umbrella.

You can also do what I do and just bounce on the bumper/side rails a couple times to shake the rain off before you open the door.

I never expected it to stay completely dry with the doors off. I also didn't expect the rain channels on the hard top to channel water to the interior. Oh well, it is what it is...
My last jeep was a '79 CJ7, the top came off in May and went back on in September or October, so I'm not unaccustomed to wet jeep and all the wonderful smells that go with it. I just thought that by 2012 some engineer would have figured out that less water is better than more water in your interior .
