Determine gear ratio 2012 Unlimited Rubi

Hello,

I just got a new 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with the 5spd auto. I requested 4.10s, but I can't verify the ratio on the diffs (no plates or engravings that I can find) or on the build sheet that came with the Jeep. Would it be marked somwhere else?

Log on to Jeep.com with your VIN. That's what I did when I bought an '07 JKU last year.

it should say 4.10 on the build sheet and the dealer invoice.

Well, I logged into Jeep.com. It said I have 3.73 gear ratio. I ordered 4.10s. I even asked them to verify it before shipping the Jeep out. If this turns out to be true I will have to ask them to make good on their mistake.

Anyone else have this happen? Did they install the correct gears or did they try and make you live with it?

If you start by asking them to order you a new Jeep, they will probably be happy to compromise on a re-gear.

If they won't, use small claims court.

If it was a point of contention when you ordered it, I can't possibly understand why you wouldn't have verified it before taking delivery.

It was on the order form in writing. The sticker did not display any gear ratios. I was told in person it had the correct ratio. After the car was dropped off at my house, I looked for the tags on the diffs, but could not find them. I called Crysler. They stated they should swap them out. If they don't I can file a complaint with Crysler and they will follow up on it. If they don't make good, then I will use small claims. Thanks

I guess that's helpful to future Jeep buyers. But to the OP, I'd say investigate further, and don't give up. You may have to go to small claims, you may only break even, but it would be the right thing to do imho.

I believe the argument is between you and the dealer not Chrysler. If it is documented well on your order they should either get you a different vehicle or change out the gears. It might take a judge to get it done though. Be persistent but nice through the entire transaction and DO NOT give up.

You can verify your gear ratio physically.

At 60 MPH:

1950 RMP = 3.73 Axles

2140 RMP = 4.10 Axles.

(assuming stock 255/75/17 tires)

Then you will know for sure and not have to deal with conflicting paperwork and dealer BS.....

Ok, I finally got a call back. They are telling me that they orderd it with 4.10s and it should have 4.10s according to their paperwork. They are going to try and verify with Crysler. It sounds like they will try and make good on it, so I will see what they say before i become a hard-ass.

To varify, I tried rotaing the tier and counting driveshaft revolutions, but I'm not sure given 3.73 and 4.10 are so close together. It looks like it is revolving ~4 times?

Whoa....! Knowing that the gear ratio is listed on the window sticker, like daggo suggests, I looked at the sticker of a 2012 Rubicon currently for sale at my local dealer.... and I don't see the gear ratio anywhere!

It's on my early 2012 Rubi window sticker. What gives?

According to the sticker, you should have 3.73 gears. (Your dealer is a idiot, by the way!)

3.73s are standard on Rubicons with the auto tranny. 4.10 is a $50 option, and would be listed in the right hand column of your window sticker. Max tow (AHT) does not add 4.10s as many think.

4.10 is standard on the Rubicon with the manual transmission only

Well I tried this. RPM at 60mph is slighty above 2K in 5th gear with the auto. How accuate is the tach? I don't have a lot of flat land around here so this is hard to hold steady.
