2003 TJ 4.0 HO(Pedro) ---> 2011 70th Anniversary JK(The Bullet)
2001 Ford Super Duty(Kitty) ---> 2012 Arctic JKU(The Freezer)

If we could have(ie had enough space and money), we would have kept both the Super Duty and the TJ, but alas, we both needed a solid DD and the Boys, as I call them, are all that and a bag a chips.

While the 2011 is a two door, he can still get us where we want to go but not with the punch that the 2012 has. Heath said that performance of The Freezer closer resembles that of his 4.0 HO TJ than that of the 3.8 in The Bullet.

I have been told by a few pre-2012 owners that they feel that their JKU's can be a bit anemic. We have, like, 7 JKU's in our subdivision.

I am anxiously awaiting my new 2012 jk rubicon which I ordered on 1/20. Black, black leather, 4.1, hard top, and some other things. I have a 2005 TJ X black which I bought used a couple years ago-
My very first jeep after wanting one for years! I love being jeep owner now and would never think about ever buying anything else- $5.00 gas be damned!

I decided to get the new one - first, because I have always been sorry I didn't get a rubicon. But also because I drive about 50 miles every day and the rough ride/lack of any comfort in the TJ is tiring sometimes. Also, the noise is really loud, especially with the
Soft top (and unlike the jk- where hard top looks great- the hard the top for the TJ looks meh IMO). And did I mention that I always wanted a rubicon... Once the new one arrives, I plan on selling the TJ

So what's the problem? As i keep driving around in my TJ, I feel like I'm about to lose a good friend. There's so much that's really cool about the TJ. Wish I could keep both, but the book value of the TJ is so good I can't justify it!

I know from faithfully reading this site that I'm really going to love the jk12. I see that many of you had TJs and now are excited jk owners. I still am reluctant to let go...

Thanks again to the forum for so much great information. And I'm sure that there aren't many outside this forum who would even understand what's such a big deal about a "car". I'll keep posting once I get the rubicon.

There and back again

I had a 2005 TJ Unlimited, which I traded for a 2010 Unlimited Rubicon, because I thought they looked so cool. I will be trading my 2010 Rubicon in for a 2006 TJ Rubicon (2 door) on Wednesday.

As others have said... The TJ was the end of an era. JK is nice, but doesn't feel right, plus I have a lot of little complaints about the JKs.

I traded in my 03 TJ Sport for my 12 JK Rubicon. I loved my TJ and would readily buy another, but I have ended up really liking my JK. It is true that it is not the same as the TJ, but to me that is not such a bad thing. Some of the refinements and bells and whistles are really nice.

The increase in gas mileage is nice too. I don't regret my trade, I have or would have ended up with a Jeep either way, which is exactly what I wanted.

Purchased a new 98 Sport 4.0 manual, traded for an 03 Ram (mistake) ... got a used 97 SE 4 banger as a third vehicle, traded for my 12 JKR (best thing I ever did) ... but I'll always miss the 98 4.0

I sold my 05 LJ rubicon and traded in my daily driver for my 12 JKUR. I loved my LJ. I was sad to see it go and I regretted selling it. A guy from jeep forum bought it. He sends me pictures of it on the trails occasionally still. I had to wait for my JK to be built so I was jeepless for 2 months. All the regret went out the window when it arrived! I am way more obsessed with my new Jeep! I was a little freaked out how nice it was when it showed up. My family kept asking "you're not going to get that nice Jeep muddy are you?". After ripping the carpet out and wrenching on it a bit, it is just as much Jeep as any. Some day I would like to have another TJ to build up...

I traded my 04 TJ for the 12 JK. I agree that the TJ was more fun to drive, but I also like the quieter, smoother ride of the JK because it's my daily driver. I also can't get over how huge the JK looks sitting in my garage compared to how compact the TJ was. I guess the bottom line for me is, IF I could go back and do it over would I still trade the TJ for the JK? And I'd say ... yup, I would (but ideally I'd love to have both).

i had a '97 TJ and this JKU is a behemoth compared. i used to refer to my '97 as "the lil guy", well, such is def not the case with this JKU
