Did your dealer give you a full tank of gas on delivery?

When you picked up your new 2012 JK, did your dealer give you a full tank of gas?

Curious what others experienced. Apparently Chrysler no longer reimburses the dealer for the full tank of gas - so its up to them to fill it up. According to the window sticker, the jeep comes with 5 gallons from Chrysler. What did your dealer give you?

Obviously, I didn't get a full tank and I am angry! I have purchased an embarrassing number of cars in my day -- with every car, excluding my new JK, there was a full tank of gas on delivery. I wonder if they gave me oil? Got to go check all the fluids now...

Personally, I think it is incredibly shortsighted on the part of the dealer - what do you think?

Yep actually got 2 full tanks. Took delivery Friday of one Jeep, drove it all weekend, came back Monday to get the hard top put on, changed my mind on the color and picked up a different one. They filled it both times. Sure it's different for every dealer, just depends.

Bought mine last night and my salesman mentioned several times that he put a full tank in it. I thought that was normal. I guess I should have tipped him!

I didn't get one. I mentioned it when they went over the checklist, and they said they'd fill it when I picked up my registration.

Bought mine yesterday and it was full when we took delivery. The salesman didn't mention anything and I just assumed that a full tank was standard practice.

Got mine delivered with a full tank. Bought a 2010 Ford work van (used) 6 months ago. Told them as part of the deal I wanted a tank of gas. When delivered it had a 1/2 tank. Went to the dick salesman and complained...he says "I got you a 1/2 tank", I said how bout the full tank that was promised...crickets. A month later we got a 2011 Expedition for my wife, right at 50k (wonder what his commission would have been on that?) but went 30 miles to Carson City to buy it. That $30.00 in gas likely cost that salesman a $800.00 comission and the dealer a couple k profit. It really does pay to do the right (what you promised) thing.

Ok - I will agree, "angry" is the wrong word -- let's go with amazed, surprised - even a little shocked. I am too late to edit it now, so work with me...

The point is, IMHO, it was incredibly shortsighted on the part of the dealer not to fill the tank. What would that have cost them? Maybe $60, (they are not in a metro area). Not sure if Chrysler does this, but I suspect I will be hearing from some independent survey company to learn about my experience. My feedback on the jeep aside, what do you think I remember most about the dealership now?

Hey Pat (and other dealers that may be lurking) -- not to put you on the spot, but, Pat - you appear to be a great dealer - does your dealership give its customers a full tank of gas on delivery? If you say "no, we don't give a full tank of gas," I will chalk this up to the fact that all of the dealers I have ever met (before now) have spoiled me and I am quite lucky to have experienced such good custiomer service. And, if you say "yes, you do give a full tank of gas," I will know I am correct in feeling the way I do about this dealership.

BTW -- my husband wants me to add that we drove 150 miles to purchase the JK -- I don't think that should matter, but it might make more sense as to why I used the word "angry."

kjeeper10 - its safe to come out now...

I'm 90% sure I got a full tank, but honestly, the vehicle fuel level was the last of my concerns when purchasing my Jeep (as well as all my vehicles in the past). Sixty dollars either way wasn't going to be a deciding factor.

The previous car I bought was used, and the dealer made a big deal about the voucher they gave me for my emissions test. I made it pretty clear that I wasn't as impressed as he thought I should be: "Wow, what a great deal. A free ten dollar emissions test with purchase of a $25,000 car." He quit the games at that point.

GO Southwest in Denver did give me a full tank on the Wrangler. It seems that is their policy. I know I have bought other new vehicles that had no more then 5 gallons in the tank. It seems like that should be a no brainer to keep a customer happy. It is the pits to have to fill up with gas on the way home from the dealership in a new vehicle!

They actually added a $20 gas charge to the POC. So while it won't be a full tank, they are getting us gas, just charging for it lol!

LOL. I think that it's just the principle, Full tank of gas everyone says comes with a new car, always has been that way. Almost a respect thing... I dunno... either way I would be getting my full tank. I have always got a full tank for the 10+ cars that I have purchased.

They took my new to me 07 out right before he handed me the keys. I'm like "where is it?" told me, "he went to get gas" good thing-because I just filled my 01's tank up full and I did not know I was driving a newer Rubi home that day

Edit..... Half tank

Filled it as it was taken off the truck before I got there for my test drive. And washed & refilled it while we signed the paper work and handed the cash over.
That was last month, I stopped in there this morning to ask a question. First thing they did was offer me some coffee.
They treat there customers good IMO.
