what would be the disadvantage to getting the half diff cover plate? Seems that I would never hit the diff on top. any have one of the half diff cover plates?

Does a good job and comes with new longer diff bolts-your main worry about the stock rear diff., is PEELING off the bottom of the cover, while going forward--fluid leak-this plate guards against that !

Thats for the rear and I have an actual diff skid, for the front, for "sliding over" THINGS !

If you want a good "social" diff. cover--getta newone

Heh Heh, yeah, even with a lift and bigger tires, the FRONT Diff. is the lowest critical unit in the front, so protectingit is MOOT!!!

This really makes sense and will be included in the next phase of mods.

Now if you'll excuse me, it looks like I have some Googling to do for front diff skids too!

Thank you!

Well, it's been a while and I don't remember paying quite that much, but almost every thing for the undercarriage is powdercoated red/yellow/gray--

You said it.
Black is the new chrome, doubly so underneath.

I've also wondered if it makes any sense to bedline kids prior to installation as yet-another protective layer. This would also solve any color alignment difficulties.

Great idea to bedline kids prior to install., as long as they aren't potty trained

...just painted these. they'll be installed in about 1700 miles.

...cleaned with brake cleaner, about 8 light coats of red rustoleum automotive paint. finished off with a couple of coats of 'testors' black for the emblem.

NOPE, you've still got 90% of the diff, exposed to cooling air-

As a matter of fact, with the aerodynamic design of the skid leading edge--your gas mileage will even go up--you can't measureit, but in airflow parameters, the skid is making the front diff a semi "AIRFOIL", with lift--at speed-

Don't quote me on that-
