Difference between freedom top and Dual Top option

HI soon to be new jeep owner here.

I'm wondering what exactly is the difference between the Freedom Top option and the Dual Top option.

I am requesting the Dual Top but am not sure as to exactly what i should be getting as both package descriptions on the website look very similar.

they both seem to come with a hard and soft top no?

It's a Sahara 2010.

DUAL TOP GROUP

Easy Folding Soft Top
Jeep Freedom Top
Sunrider Soft Top Delete
Freedom Panel Storage Bag
Rear Window Defroster
Rear Window Wiper/Washer
Tinted Rear Quarter & Liftgate Windows
----
Jeep FREEDOM TOP

Sunrider Soft Top Delete
Freedom Panel Storage Bag
Rear Window Defroster
Rear Window Wiper/Washer
Tinted Rear Quarter & Liftgate Windows
-----

So is that to say in the Dual Top option i am to expect:
and easy folding soft top a Jeep Freedom Top: And a sunrider soft top delete???!?

Can someone explain to me how this works out please it would be very much appreciated. (perhaps i have been smoking too much but it still seems cryptic as to what i am actually paying for / expecting to see come with the vehicle)

thanks again...

The Dual Top option gives you a hard top and a Sunrider soft top. The Freedom Top option is just the hard top, you won't get a soft top at all.

"Sunrider Soft Top Delete" just means that you are overriding the stock configuration, which only comes with a Sunrider Soft Top. So you're deleting that, and then adding the option you want: either Dual Top, or just the Freedom Top.

Admittedly, it's an odd way of displaying the configuration.

Freedom top is the hardtop with removable panels, Soft Top Delete will get you no soft top, Dual Top is both (two) tops. Yes it's cryptic, someone should tell the auto industry that confusing the customer doesn't benefit them.

x3...dual tops gives you both.

It is a little confusing. Freedom top is the hard top. The wrangler comes standard with the sundrider soft top. If you choose freedom top option, you are replacing the soft top with a hard top. If you choose dual top, you will get both hard top and soft top.

If you think you want both tops, then the dual top option is not a bad idea IMO. They give you a break on the cost of the top. For example to go from hard top only to "both tops" is $890 or so. The soft top will cost you about $1200 if you buy it after the fact. Granted, you could always look at cheaper aftermarket tops.

Hey Guys,

Thanks so much for the explanation; An amazing community here and i hope to learn from you guys.

Quick question and if i need to post another thread let me know....

The 'trail rated' versions come with the water fording air intakes or something similar; i guess to help prevent the engine from flooding...

Can i still take the Sahara (non trail rated addition) through water( i.e. a small river or something)? I guess i would just have to be careful the water doesn't reach up too high??

I doubt i will ever see myself driving across a river or should i say stream? but the thought is enticing. ( i've never owned a Jeep and am looking forward to a little off roading in the mountains of New Brunswick. )

thanks again JPWheelin, jolly dodger and jeffk42

your input was much appreciated and totally clarified the description of what is what.

How do you guys find it handles Gas? On my current car i'm getting about 11.4g/100Km i believe depending on how hard i drive it....

thanks again!

The way we as salespeople are told, the "trail rated" badge that you see on any of the Jeep products is based on approach/departure angles and water fording capability. It has to do with a 3rd party company that tested the Jeeps.

All 2011 Wrangler Saharas are 4WD and are trail rated.

I love New Brunswick, grew up right across the border and would swim across the St Croix all the time.
