The "real" specs are no where near that. I emailed Chrysler about them. If I remember correctly, it is a 6 channel, 270 watt amp...peak...at 2 ohms.

Infinity or Alpine? I'm sure the one I took out was eight channels (two sub, two soundbar, two dash, two tweeter).

Same wattage per channel though. 276/6 and 368/8 = 46W per channel.

I have the alpine speakers and sub available from a 2013 JKU with the stock. Already sold the HU. Make some offers. I have an ad in the FS section.

I just ordered a Soundstream Picasso Nano 5.540 amp today after finding that the Sony I ordered new from Ebay was DOA. I was in a trusted car audio shop having them double-check the amp just for peace of mind and saw this one. It is TINY. 9.25"x4.75"x1.5". Puts out 50x4 and 170x1 at 4ohms.

I have been reading on ton on amps and upgrading and now have finally gotten myself confused. I am looking at various amps but confused now as to whether I can replace the existing amp and still maintain functionality on the steering wheel and provide input controls. I have read where i have to pull off the existing amp to the new amp and I have seen people say you can just by-pass. Any real world answers?

Not sure if this will help but I replaced factory head unit w/ aftermarket one. I ran an Alpine power pack (4x45w) for the front and soundbar speakers. The power pack isn't bad and is really small and will fit just about anywhere. You can tap factory power and ground which simplifies install.
You can retain steering wheel controls with Axxess unit ($50) that worked just fine for me.

The Pioneer is a really good bit of kit and you're going to get terrific sound from it if you tie it to the right speakers, but I think it's overkill for what you're trying to achieve. Power is achievable pretty cheaply, you pay the premium for a refinement that you just won't notice in a Jeep, IMO.
I can't agree more. Spend your big money on protection and performance for your Jeep. Audio, which is important to me as well, would not get top dollar. $100 for a class d kenwood 1000w amp all day. I go to the beach alot and after one year you can see what salt air, humidity, and rain can do to electronics.
I went with poly speakers(polk) poly subs(sony explode) I will spend money on a good head unit.

In case anyone is watching this thread, I pulled trigger on PDX-V9 and will provide an update on install once it arrives. Not sure if I'm going under seat or under dash at this point, it will be easier to plan once I have it in hand.

I've been considering my options and I may just go ahead and get one of these rather than the Clarion that I was going to use.

I ended up getting a factory sub enclosure so I'll be dropping in a mild sub in that instead of using a compact powered sub under the seat. So now I need a sub amp and dropping a PDX-V9 into the factory amp location has quite a bit of appeal.

Get good pictures of the install if you can when you do the write up.

I was looking to get factory enclosure for an 8" sub, but have been looking at sundown SA series which runs at 500rms. Problem is, 1st not sure if it would fit and 2nd I haven't found a good price on factory sub enclosure.

I'll post my findings on mounting with pics. I want under dash, but gonna call a few junk yards tomorrow to see if I can get just amp bracket.

I talked to the dealer about getting the amp bracket. They only sell it with the amp and they want over $300 for it.

Living in the middle of nowhere means there isn't much in the junk yards to choose from. I may just go ahead and fabricate a bracket myself.

I'm going custom if no one responds on here to my wanted thread.

I called junk yards all over US that posts which parts they have in stock and they won't sell without amp either.

Well, mine is now beautifully mounted under my passenger seat. I posted a full update on my build thread.

I just didn't see how this would fit under the dash and me not being really, really pissed off after a full day of trying to figure it out.
