Dimensions for sub box

I have a 2013 2-Door JK and I want to get 1 12" subwoofer. Does anybody know the dimensions for a box that would fit in the back of my jeep?

That would depend on the individual sub, it's particular characteristics, and if you want a sealed or ported box.

You planning on building one?

This page is designed to help you determine the proper dimensions for a speaker enclosure. There are some ratios which are typically used to determine an enclosure shape that will help to minimize standing waves in the familiar rectangular speaker box. Never build a cube shaped box, which is the absolute worst enemy of a smooth frequency response curve.

I'm building one but I want to make some blueprints first. I'm using a 12" kicker compr sub. I also want to make a ported enclosure. It doesn't have to be exact I was just wondering if anyone knew dimensions for a box that would fit in my jeep.

I found a box I might model mine off of. The dimensions are 21.5"w by 14"h by 16"d. If anyone knows whether or not that would fit, please reply.

Based on the Qts, Vas, and Fs specs for that speaker, your optimum ported box size would need to be over 9 cubic feet. Seems this speaker is meant for a sealed enclosure. The Comp RT speaker on the other hand needs a ported enclosure size of 4.883 cubic feet - a far more manageable size considering the space constraints in the 2DR.

I would suggest getting a tape measure to determine the actual space you have in your Jeep (w and d would be the same as others, but your max height will be determined by your own preference), then calculate the maximum cubic feet your enclosure can be.

From personal experience, a smaller sub in a properly sized/tuned ported box will generally outperform a larger speaker in an improperly sized/tuned box - all things being equal. depending on your max cubic feet, you may save some $$ by going with a 10". Not trying to change your selection, just offer alternatives in case you are not 100% on that size/model of sub.

www.carstereo.com has a number of great formulas to help you determine the optimum size and tuning based on your speakers individual characteristics.

Seriously? We're being helpful and trying to steer you into the best result. But we're not your mother - you need to do a little work yourself and go measure your cargo area.

Don't get your panties(or diaper?) in a bunch.
Some times you have do some of the work yourself, like measuring your own cargo area.

I'm 100% sure that you don't own a jeep jk. Give your daddy his truck back. Learn how to use a tape measure and go measure the thing. It's not like it's a single can truck you have the room for a box go buy one or let your dad make you one. If your really 13 and the jeep is yours tell your parents to spend there money in better ways.

P.S. Kicker comps suck

P. S. I'll send you a picture of my jeep and if your profile pic is your jeep, then your jeep fits in the same category as kicker comps.

Nice looking Jeep. What measurements did you come up with?
