DING..!!! Noise is driving me crazy

My 07 unlimited has been making a "ding" sound. It's the same exact "ding" when the gas light goes on. I filled the gas tank. Checked all the doors. Seat belts are always on. It "dings" when driving randomly. Has anyone had this happen before and if so how do i fix it? HELP.

If it was low on fuel or one of the doors wasn't all the way closed it would show that on the display, unless that bulb was burned out. Are there any unusual indicators lit up on the IP that you cannot identify?

Or low tire pressure. But again, that should show up on your dash.

You may be experiencing early signs of clock spring failure... dealer MAY replace under warranty that was extended for just this issue depending on manufacturing date.

Google JK Clockspring and you will find a lot of info about this exact issue. The clockspring is a component in the steering shaft that carries electrical signal to various steering wheel switches (air bag, cruise, etc) while the wheel turns.

Does it ding when you turn your steering wheel when driving? Check to see when ding happens if the airbag light goes on. If the airbag light goes off and it dings then its definitely clockspring. Only covered under warranty for 07 LHD wranglers. Chrysler didn't cover for my 08 when my clockspring failed.

Yes, it starts off with simple DING then gets progressively worse (more frequent), including airbag light coming on. That's what happened with mine as well.

I was lucky in that it was an '07 so covered under the warranty I mentioned (even though I was FAR out of regular warranty, and the second owner).

OP, since you have an '07 I would take it to dealer. If they are not aware of it, refer to the letter in the post below:

Clock Spring Warranty - Page 3

Perhaps they will only replace if it gets bad enough that the airbag light goes on.

I have a 2013 and mine makes a ding sound whenever the door locks "auto lock" when driving. Its completely random though, & doesn't do it every time, but it is annoying.
