After making the move from the upcoming drab Northeast winter to sunny south Florida i thought it was time for a change. I dipped the entire JK yesterday. It came out amazing and im already looking forward to a year down the road and switching it up again. I dont know the official color, but ive dubbed it Alien Eyes.

That looks great! I dipped my last car camo green and it looked amazing. I did it myself though and only had $250 in everything including the compressor and spray gun. So I am thinking about dipping my Jeep and with those parts already on hand, it should only cost me about $150 to do. Mine held up really well and I only took it off because I was selling the car. Most of it does peel off as easy as they say but to get in all the cracks and nooks it takes some bug off, q tips and a whole lot of patients.

Very cool. Just Googled them... sent me to their facebook page. They have a few more pics of your "Alien Eyes" on there... looks awesome.

So how is the plastidip going to hold up around the bed rails where the soft top attaches? I feel like it will get peeled off easily in that area. I've dipped a few things and it's alright, no where near the quality of a paint job or wrap but then it's also a lot cheaper. I just hate the texture.

It will probably peel off so I'm going to get a rattle can to touch up when needed. I keep the doors off all the time and the roof down as well. If it rains I either get wet, steal the wife's car or don't go. Going to order a spider shade this week to help fend off some of the Florida showers.

If you changed the color of your jeep make sure you go to the DMV and change it on your registration. Don't want the LEO running your plates and it's registered to a red Jeep and The jeep color does not match the current registration... Cops might think it's a stolen vehicle or stolen plates next thing you know you got a gun in your face!

I was thinking exactly the same thing specially if the plan is to change it annually. If you're lucky the cops might think it's stolen, in the worst case Homeland Security thinks it's part of plot.

Cars get painted all the time, I wouldn't give the dmv a minutes thought. If you are ever even questioned about it, the police can always look in a door jam or other area to see the original color. It's a non issue.
