Manufacturer : CHRYSLER GROUP LLC

Crash : No

Number of Injuries: 0
ODI ID Number : 10382692

VIN : 1J4GA59187L...

Summary:
WHEN THE DIRECTIONAL LEVER IS PUT ON FOR A RIGHT TURN IT DOES NOT ALWAYS GO OFF AFTER THE TURN. INSTEAD IT GOES TO A LEFT SIGNAL. TO TURN IT OFF I HAVE TO GO BACK AND FORTH WITH THE LEVER SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE SIGNALS GO OFF. DEALER WON'T FIX IT BECAUSE IT IS HARD TO DUPLICATE AT THE DEALERSHIP.

My 08 Sahara is a little psycho in this regard too but responds well to just fussing with it for a half-block.

Have something similar. When switching lanes I push the signal lever to go left or right and sometimes when I let it loose the opposite signal will flash and I have to jiggle the handle. I do not push it to the click but just enough to signal lane change. If I signal right and let loose the signal will continue and when I push on the handle the left will start so It seems it is computer related with a mind of it's own.

The problem is there is no delay in lane change detection part of the program. ie, if you hold the indicator stalk in one direction and then quickly flick it momentarily to the other direction then let go, it will flash the other side for three flashes.

On most European vehicles where this has been standard for years, if there is no delay of a few seconds between left and right indication then the lane change function will not work.

Bottom line, if the opposite one flashes and you try to cancel by pushing it the other way it simply start the three flash lane change option. All you can do is let it go for its three flashes.

To me, it sounds like the stalk is moving to far when cancelling after turning the corner and initiating the lane change in the opposite direction - probably when the wheel is returned to centre quickly. Try letting the wheel return a little slower and see if the problem still occurs?

I should add that the three flash lane change indication can be lengthened, shortened, and even disabled by the Dealer programming.
