I'm actually looking forward to when my 3.8 kicks the bucket. My wallet on the other hand isn't as excited.

Hahaha! Amen! I have a brand new 3.8 in my rig right now. About 5k miles on it that I put in end of august. The last one got a little too wet if you know what I mean.

I need a whole list of stuff. Fixing that seal next weekend.

Quote:
Alternator mount kit, fits your JK alternator to the LS engine.
A/C compressor mount kit, fits your JK A/C compressor to the LS engine.
P/S mount kit, fits your JK P/S pump to the LS engine.
E38 GM computer programmed for your engine.
MoTech's JK to LS wiring harness with power distribution center PDC, supports AFM/DOD and VVT engines.
ECM and PDC mount.
Transmission shift cable mount and lever.
Accelerator pedal and mount.
Aluminum expansion bottle and mount.
A/C line kit.
Air intake kit. (Air Filter not included)
Serpentine belt 6K1015.
Harmonic balancer set, includes new bolt.
Emissions kit - includes fuel tank pressure sensor, EVAP vent solenoid, hose and hardware.

Basically everything in the motech swap kit. I havent really gone through or even touched my motor or tranny. I havent decided weather or not i wanna get a set of forged pistons or is that would be overkill. I wanted to do a forced induction setup from the start.

In other words... i have alot of work to do.

Haven't posted here in awhile so i guess i should give a status. Saving for a nice apartment and buying jeep parts just doesn't go well. At this point, even piecing together the LS puzzle is a task. On the bright side. Found me a lil something something from a mate in my local Jeep Club...

14bolt picked it up for $200. I could't pass it up lol. Anyways... if anyone is interested in my jeep build i linked the page or check my sig. Thanks guys!! Have a goodone!

When I do a v8 conversion I will run stock axles till these prove to not stand up to the motor.

Check out wayalife's thread on his Jeep, Moby. In google type, "It's time to supersize Moby"

He did a 6.2L LS swap and is working with MoTech as well. He actually got it running and all and from the last I read, he is getting all the bugs worked out. Might be helpful.

Haha! Funny you should say this. I'm following the same thread! Tons of good info. I think the hardest part of the swap is wiring all the components to work with the jeep electronics. PAIN IN THE ASS!

Thanks again for the input tho. Much appreciated.

Personally, Me. The hemi makes nice power but it gets worse mileage. If you get the LS 6.2L you get significantly more power than a hemi and better mileage. I don't see the downside. Even if you go with the 5.3 it's not much less power than a hemi but still better mileage

Hmm interesting. I don't think jeep has made a good, reliable and efficient motor yet. The GM LS, vortec line are very good and supported worldwide with an array of aftermarket parts. They produce good power, torque and are efficient at producing that power. Not to mention junkyards are littered with them.

3 reasons why an LS makes a great engine swap candidate! Thank you for your input sir.

I have a Corvette with a LS engine, added a Vortec Supercharger, now have 530rwhp that gets 28 mpg at 70 mph.

Put a supercharger on your LS and go Jeeping....

Damn Mooney! Im impressed lol! This only excites me more. i cannot wait till this beast is tucked in to my engine bay. Following installation i will be exploring forced induction options.

Appreciate your input buddy!

Just looking at the costs involved, I wonder if someone couldn't buy a JK with a blown 3.8, pay outright for an Ls swap (parts and labor), and come out about even vs buying a used jk that did not need an engine.
