I've been checking on the hemi swaps, but they're just too much for what you get. LS is interesting and aftermarket is plentiful. I'd have to go from manual to auto for the hemi, but it sounds like there might be stick options for the LS as well.

I look forward to hearing some updates as you progress.

Imagine a forced induction 5.3

A supercharger or a small turbo to build boost around 1500 rpms would be insane!

I am surprised that the weight difference between a hemi and LS has not been mentioned. No contest!

I'm going with MoTech. I'll keep posting to this thread throughout the build.

plus the GM 6 speed auto is superior to the Chrysler auto in every single metric.

Holy smokes! My Jeep's been at MoTech for a few months now but it is finally done! I'm going in the next week to pick it up. I have a bunch of info to post once I get home. Pic's and all. I know it's been a long while but I am almost there. Please bear with me.

So how long does it take to get an engine swap done at Motech, from drop off to pick up?

Usually it takes them 6 to 8 weeks but I had taken mine in late last year and they were booked solid with a bunch of other builds. They didn't start on mine in earnest until February. Once the installation was done end of March I then decided to go ahead and upgrade the suspension to the MC Game Changer w/6-pack shocks after long discussions with Robbie. I'm flying out to pick it up and drive home via Moab, Grand junction, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Carlsbad and Kerrville next week. Bunch of stops to see long-lost relatives along the way. And of course, a day or two at Moab now that I have a rock crawler capable suspension.

Yep, the LS 6.0 V8 and GM 6180 tranny install is done and I'm headed out to Vegas to pick it up within the week. 10 days home (lots of stops... relatives, Moab, etc) on my epic 2016 road trip and I'll get some posts up on the entire 4-yr build. I want to say after 4yrs I have reached the pinnacle of my ultimate build, but we all know the fallacy in that; next part I crap out equals next opportunity to upgrade!

This is what we started the swap with; a late model GM LS6.0V8 and a GM 6180 auto tranny.

This is where we ended up: I have a ton of photos of the install on my phone but have not figured out a good way to move them all to my computer yet. Dropbox seems to work but it is so slooooooowwww transferring 3Mb files.

Absolutely bra! I had the lowly Pentastar in my '12 JKU and researched all manner of increasing the HP and torque. I almost settled for the RIPP forced air induction system on the Pentastar but had a moment of clarity. My old hot rodding days came back... there is nothing better for reliable HP and torque than displacement. So I scrapped the Pentastar and dropped in an LS6.0V8 & GM 6180e tranny. See details starting on page 4 of this thread. I go pick it up in Vegas next week for an epic trip home thru Moab. Over the next few weeks I'll try to get some details of the install and other aspects of the build plus my thoughts posted.
