Do I Dare!

Hello everyone. Im going on a 10 day trip to Cape Hatteras, NC where storms can roll up in an instant. I want so badly to roll with the doors off. I have a 2007 and Im afraid of the console getting wet. Do I Dare?

the electronics on jeeps are pretty water tight. they can hold up to rain w/o giving you electrical problems. i'd say you biggest worry would be a wet ass and a wet smelly carpet.

Welcome to the Forum and I say GO FOR IT. You drive a jeep, what gets wet will dry (eventually).

I'd say go for it ... why not ... I passed out one night and left the top and doors of my jeep and it came a down pour and the only problem i had the next day was that my cruise light on the dash would not come on but sense it all dried I haven't had any more problems.

Now that's a "SIGN", if I ever saw one! Bet you didn't realize that the Outerbanks is located in "DARE COUNTY" North Carolina, did ya?

While in "DARE", take a "DARE"..... go with the Doors Off! ENJOY!

Welcome Aboard Shipmate!

Cheers!

I wouldn't suggest leaving the top off in the rain and letting your shit get soaked. Too many people have tried that and cried all the way to the bank. Put ur doors in the back and if it starts to rain just put them back on. Invest into some fabric or half doors if you really want to save space. With the top on and doors off you will get pretty wet but unless you have semi's driving by splashing you with water I don't think the electronics will get TOO wet but you never know.

I'll second what Lev said, its going to be trouble if your dash gets soaked.

I'm jealous as hell, 10 days in hatteras? We've been going there twice a year since 04. Do you go to fish or just get your tires in the sand? Me and my friends spent all our time cruisin the surf and fishin ramp 55. The point was the best but is now mostly closed...

Drive there with the doors on and take them off when you get there. Put them in your hotel room/tent. If it rains, put them on!

yeah this will be our 13th year going. it started as a surf trip and has transformed into a surfing, fishing, drinking, and pretty much anything trip. its a good way to blow off some steam. we stay at ramp 49 and get campsites but never leave the beach.

That sounds awesome! I have been to the beach once. Living in the middle of the country blows!

We've tried all the ramps but had no luck. 55 has worked, long cruisin stretch, easy rip tides, and plenty of fish so far LOL. Cool to see another jeep guy who goes to hatteras to fish and not just drive past our setup and kick sand on my sh*t.
