Do I Need A New Exhaust System?

I am new to all of this, but I plan to make some improvements to my 2010 Sahara 2dr. One of them was to improve on the overall performance and wondered whether a new exhaust system is worth putting in. Don't want excess noise and I am not interested in making teh vehicle sound louder. Is a new exhaust system (cat back) worth it? Does it really improve performance? Is it better for the engine? Appreciate any help.

I did a little research online and it seems that the power increase only kicks in after 4k rpms.

I've researched this to death. You'll lose low end torque, and your exhaust will be louder.

Save your hard earned cash...

If you are lifted with larger tires, the best thing to do performance wise is re-gear the axles.

As I see it there is one valid reason for changing exhaust, to move the muffler so you can add one of these. http://www.jeepswag.com/jeep_jk_stor...ment/index.htm

I think I've seen a number of posts that have moved the muffler/smaller muffler so that it improves the exit angle (I think that is what it is called) in the rear.

I removed my stock muffler and installed a Flowmaster 40 series CAT-BACK

I put the Flowmaster right in front of the evap cannister and ran the duals (pair), back to the rear axle (drivers side-then split to 21/2" stainless tips at the base of the rear bumper

I've considered that storage tub, but haven't needed it yet

There is a REAL mental/sonic improvement to my exhaust sys with absolutely NO HP INCREASE

So it's your call
