Do I need wheel spacers for 33x12.50 17 tires?

Hi,

I am about to install new springs in my 08 Wrangler X with the factory 17x7.5 inch rims. I expect the new springs to give me about 1.5" of lift. My question is if I install 33x12.50 17 tires on the factory rims will I need wheel spacers?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ed

You can fit 33's without a lift, you need the spacers to keep from rubbing while at full lock in a turn.(unless you have aftermarket wheels w/4.25-4.5 bs, or more of course)

Depending on the tire, you may not rub much, if at all.

You can also add a washer or 2 to the steering stops. It's a cheap and much safer alternative to wheel spacers plus it's legal in all 50 states. The only downside is that you are making your turning radius a little larger
