Do JK's have a lot of problems?

Hey yall I was just wondering if Jk's encountered a lot of problems? I've got a tj and I'm helping a friend decide on a jeep she's looking at a 4 door jk or an lj. Thanks in advance.

That is kind of a loaded question.

No more problems than any other new (Chrysler) vehicle with a removable top and doors.

If something goes wrong...take it to the dealer.

The JK's have a good number of "unique" issues... attributable to both the design and the brand (what panthermark said). Electrical gremlins, some weird engine /cooling stuff, leaks in hard tops, and brittle soft top isenglass when cold... Look through the forum for a bit and the patterns emerge fairly succinctly. make sure that your friend understands what the thing is and really tries one out before purchase. Maybe see if one can be rented for a weekend prior to purchase.

Probably not one of which you would know about if you weren't a forum member. The issues are always magnified here.

That thread was created yesterday.

I'm guessing the engines in both of your JK's blew up today....or will be midnight.

Some do. Most don't. Kind of like most vehicles.

Anyone who is worried about reliability should run very far away from any Chrysler dealership.

Anyone who can weigh problems against fun can consider certain Chryslers, especially Jeeps.

Anyone who wants to live now and make the most of life can absolutely buy Chryslers, and should specifically consider a Jeep.

mine creates an odd smile every time I drive it, which is often as it keeps making me want to just cruise around all the time

it also makes me jittery, as at 67000 miles on my 08JK, I have virtually none of the expected "issues" and "problems" many here report

the increasing anxiety of whether I could ever replace such a magnificent Jeep with no issues, vs making the mistake of having driven a 2014 model a while back would OBVIOUSLY have to be fatally flawed, yes?

and my green/khaki Safari came fully equipped with more stuff than I ever wanted....yet now I've come to enjoy these little pleasures....surely I couldn't justify another Major Debt for mere cosmetic reasons....could I?....

what what that question???

ah....."No".....no problems....

I went from a 2004 LJ to a 2013 JKU Sahara. Both are great Jeeps that I would recommend highly to anyone wanting a Jeep, and for my purposes are better than a TJ or JK 2 dr.

The JKU has more power, more options available, rides better stock, if you get the premium soft top has a better soft top, has a better hard top...you get the idea.

The LJ was a blast to drive, and I was more prone to take it through the woods than my JKU Sahara due to cost differences and the fact that I bought the LJ used and it already had trail scars.

Either choice is a good one, simply depends on how much room she wants and how much $$ she wants to spend IMHO. For me, I like my JKU better for what I'm using it for (daily driver).

I had no significant problems with either vehicle. Put 40,000 on the LJ, have 22,000 on the JKU.

Hope that helps!

Since 2 days ago! Have you been under a rock? The profits don't go to the plant. They go to the parent company, Fiat, in Italy!

Mine too, and my tires keep getting chewed up on trails as well. So far, 6,000 miles and not a single issue that I can't attribute to me or my wife.

That is a very difficult question to answer, because just the term (A LOT), is a opinion, that very's from person to person. It's just too subjective!

I purchased my 2013 Rubicon last March. The radiator cap was defective and changed.
My opinion is, that is not (A LOT) of problems, somebody else may say, it's new and that should not have happened.

So the bottom line is, that type of a question, really can't be answered accurately...

Now if you were to ask me, would I purchase another JK if needed, then my answer would be yes..........
