I have an '07 with the 4.11 lockers but that was the first year and you had the option of ordering that way. Now I believe you can only get the Rubi that way.

They are all "cousins"..but yes....BLD is different.

I think it is like this:

ESP keeps you from losing control (steering wise) by applying the brakes to certain wheels before you spin out on the highway after hitting a patch of ice.

Traction control keeps you from spinning your wheels by applying the brakes and reducing the throttle.

Anti-lock brakes are anti-lock brakes.

BLD locks one wheel (in the air) so more torque can be applied to the other.

It is all software that eats up brake pads....

This article covers different levels of the ESP. BLD is one aspect that is always on.

I believe (in the above link) their referring to the Brake Assist System (BAS) as another acronym for BLD, or maybe it's more encompassing. They show its impossible to disable the electronic LSD in a table below the pictures.

This link below echos the other article giving examples of how ESP partial modes work. Because they love making acronyms the call BLD also ELSD. Then back to BLD.
