Do these things work?

JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED GF Peformance Chip

Install a chip. Gain 4-7 mpg and a extra hp/torque. Sounds like snakeoil to me...

Internet is tracking what we look at. I've seen several ads for them on this site and other Jeep forums as well as other off-road online store sites. I think that has something to do with why there have been a few topics with the chip questions.

To the OP: I have little experience with chips but from what I see and hear they are an expensive way to get a tiny gain which usually comes in the form of HP gains and not MPG gains.

I can tell you first hand the Unichip piggyback system works as claimed.

JP Magazine had a JK chip shootout not too long ago and backed up thier testing with a dyno. Some as expected don't do squat, some really do add HP and torque.
I have a cold air intake and cat back exhaust as well as custom map in the piggyback unit to match my mods but in "sport" mode the unichip really rips.

Hmm. $400 msrp, and they're gonna come up off it for $69?
4-7 mpg?
60 hp?
25-40% lower emissions?

I'd be firing peeps if I was CEO of Chrysler, and spent all that $$ on the Pentastar engine, only to find out I could've bought a bunch of $69 chips that any moron can plug into his Jeep and get almost the same power, and better mileage, as the '12 Wrangler.

Or maybe I'm just a natural skeptic.

I also have a Unichip w/cai, and throttle body spacer. I made the mistake of calling it a 3.8 power fix, not really meaning a true "my jeep will pull the wheels now" type fix, and I didn't give a dyno chart, so this thread brought some doubters. Without claiming hp or torque gain I can say that these things made a very noticeable difference, and yes it wasn,t cheap. And I will not be taking my cai off, (as suggested by many.) These things vary somewhat from jeep to jeep. There are a lot of variances. I will never regret doing this to mine!
