Does Rubi ride alot ruffer than X / Sahara?

So my salesperson calls last night...

Says he can give me another grand for my car,,, What a cowinkie dink,,, last day of the month, last day of the quarter

He also says The Rubi is alot ruffer ride than the stock Wrangler. And I wouldnt want to daily drive it. And I would need a second car. Say what?

Ok,,,

now for a little off topic bs.

He then said if I buy this 2009 wrangler and want to sell it in 4 months or so I would have NO TROUBLE at all selling it, cause he is giving me $3k off sticker.

Alright,,,,,,,,,,,,,

So......... Since me, being a non Jeep dealer, private party is going to have no trouble selling a Jeep he cant move off his lot.. and being used without the lifetime PT warrenty,, and having a few thousand on the OD ,,, will have no trouble selling it...........

I almost said,, buddy if that bs was close to being true,,, you wouldnt have a Jeep to sell me.

This is all ontop of having to refi, about $5k in negative equity.

I find it hard that he thought I or anyone would come close to buying that BS.

I do feel sorry for the folks that believe every word these sales monkey Spew.

So,,, Is the Rubbi that much more ruff on the roads than an X or Sahara?

Or just pitch that in the BS bagg also?

Sounds like BS to me. Is he trying to push you into an X that he's had sitting on the lot or something? I'd be curious to hear what his logic is . . . stiffer springs, shocks or what. If you plan to wheel the thing . . . there's only one choice . . . RUBICON!!!

That's crap. While I tell people that unless they NEED a Rubicon, they should look elsewhere, as the M/T's DO cause a noticably rougher ride, and SUCK on ice, which we get a lot of up here. Also, if you never plan to wheel it, it's a lot of $ for nothing gained in terms of DDing ability.

Reality sounds like that $5k of inequity is keeping you out of a Rubi, or they don't want to sell it to you- Mark W.

I've gone both ways......in an 08. Had the Sahara Unlimited for about 9 months and then the Rubicon Unlimited for over a year now. THEY BOTH DRIVE ROUGH. The Sahara was my first Jeep and when I got in and started driving it, it is one of the things I liked about it. IT DRIVES LIKE A TRUCK. They both do...Sahara and Rubicon. Now, there are some trucks that drive like a car but this Jeep definitely drives like a truck. Stiff springs, stiff shocks, whatever the reason it doesn't matter. If you get one, that is one of the things you get along with it...is it's ride. I got mine so I could go off the beaten path with it and it is my DD. I enjoy even driving on the road but especially off road. On road you feel every little twitch. Not quite like a military vehicle like a hummer or whatever they call those personnel carriers, they feel like a buck board down the road. But the Jeep is definitely a stiff ride compared to most SUVs. I couldn't tell the difference between the two.

Mark, I had the A/Ts on the Sahara and the M/Ts on the Rubicon. Slightly more noise with the windows open and barely noticeable difference on the feel of the two tire types. Occasionally I think I can actually feel a little rumble from the tires but it is only a fleeting feeling. It is hardly noticeable. Now, if I put some more serious M/Ts on there then I'm sure it will be more rough. I think the tread design on the stock muds help to lessen that effect.

my parents have a rubi and i have an x and i actually think the rubi rides better on the street. it doest pitch and roll as much. im gonna get a set of rubi shocks and springs as soon as i can. im pretty sure you were getting the usual line of bs to get you to buy something. its sad that stealerships like these are even around it gives a bad name to the rest of the dealerships out there that arent just trying to sell as many cars as they can no matter what they have to do.

Well, most salespeople are just out to make a buck. They don't know nearly as much about the product. I drive Jeep, live Jeep, and sell Jeep, but I'm by far the exception. The folks who work with me know a fair bit, but they're far better at selling than I am. I know I lose $$ every month for knowing more about the product than the sales process, but my customers stick with me for life- Mark W.

Well said Mark. It is a different experience dealing with a salesperson who really understands the product. It makes for a pleasant purchasing experience. If I were in the market for another Jeep, it might be worth while making the trip out to NY from Western Mass. Kudos.

My 08 Rubi rides so much better than my old 06 TJ. Its actually quite comfy on my 40 mile ride to work.

They both ride rough.
The RUBI is rougher.

If you have a lot of ice or even a little just forget about going anywhere. You will just spin in circles like a ball.

I would say they are almost indistinguishable from each other and that is from personal experience with both. Meaning it's not a factor in the purchase....period. End of sentence. In my opinion .

I test drove an 09 Rubicon before I bought my 04 X. If anything, the Rubicon was smoother.

^ That's comparing apples to pears, though- that's a generational gap issue. The Rubicon has at least 3" more tire than your TJ to help smooth things out, not to mention SSV shocks.
As I've said, if you NEED a Rubi, get a Rubi. If you want a smooth ride, get a Grand Cherokee. But yeah- either one is a great choice- if you can swing it, and need it, get a Rubi- Mark W.
