I don't notice any blue smoke or symptoms or leaks, so not sure what is going on. I guess I will buy some new plugs and inspect each cylinder to see if I can see a problem (may as well change them if I am going thru the trouble). Crazy if I have to do a rebuild after so few miles.
Most popular rebuild is:

A) See if Chrysler will help you out.

*If they do, go to B)

*If they don't go to C.

B) Celebrate, become a true Chrysler fan & enthusiast, tell all your friends & associates all about your great experience of owning & driving Chrysler products.

C) Yank the 3.8 out, Use it for a very expensive boat anchor, or better yet, hurl it through your local Chrysler Stealerships window & pony up the cash for a new Hemi.

If your 3.8 is using oil clean intake manifold with sea foam intake cleaner it sprays into the throttle body while its running and decorbons your rings and stops oil blow by . did it on my 2009 jku and it fixed my oil consumpsion.

Ha Ha, I'm real happy with mine. Pretty good power. Runs great, conumes no oil. I'll get back to ya if all of this changes like it has for so many others.

I would think if you're lookin, there should be plenty of them around. With all the Hemi conversions & all.

2007 Wrangler 2dr Auto. 32,000 miles 3qts in 3,000 mi. Due for oil change now and when that's done I'll be doing Jeep's "oil consumption test". My dealer (my job) will be topping off and marking the drain plug (like I'm really sabotaging my own oil) and it will be documented in 1,000 miles how much oil is used.

07, JKU-X, 40Kmiles.... using 10W-30 Penz High Milage vehicle oil....
Has drastically reduced my oil consumption...
This weekend took the jeep for a road trip, 185 miles.....only had to add 1/2 quart.
Thats two quarts between this oil change so far...
Keep in mind these 3.8L engines were made in a couple plants, one of which was in MEXICO where they say the rings were installed wrong....
Reading some of the other posts about the 3.6 engines, they are saying those problems engines were made in Mexico also.. (Bad Heads ? whatever ).
I'm happy with the jeep, I'll keep pourin oil and try to find a cure, maybe Sea Foam.
If it wasn't such a mess under the hood, I'd yank it out and put new rings in it....
Might just do that to see if it fixes it.... "BH"

No consumption....and no programmer available! One good....one bad!

I have a 2010 JK I change the oil every 3000 and it currently has 60000 miles. I am currently burning about 1 quart every 1000 miles. Dealer told me that it had to burn 5 quarts every 3000 miles before Chrysler would do anything. Its to bad because I love everything about my JK except the motor.

2008 unlimitled with 83,000 miles, early on it was 1/2 qt low every 3000 miles, now its burning a full qt about every 1000, took it to the dealership and chrysler responded by saying with engines over 50k it is normal to lose a qt every 750 miles, therefore they could not proceed, im currently checking the spark plugs for any signs of oil on the electrode, ugh

2007, 48k miles, found I was missing 1 GALLON, now topping up with half quarts every couple of weeks (roughly 250 miles). Could I be in the 'Chrysler will do something about it' category?

Our 2011 3.8 with 16,000 miles burns ne'er a drop of synthetic oil. That's with a very hilly daily commute, and only 3 oil changes so far.

08 JK approaching 49000 miles, zero oil consumption between changes @ 3500-4000 miles.

5W20 Castrol non synthetic

'08 JK Sahara 2-dr with 47,000 miles.

0-41,000 miles - no, or little loss
41,000-44,000 miles - 1 qt per 3,000 miles
44,000 to 47,000 miles - lost 3 quarts in 3000 miles (dealer says its due to using synthetic for the first time).

I think that Chrysler looked at the 07 - 10 Wrangler releases as a bridge, using the POS minivan engine until the engine that eventually went into the '11 was ready. Suckers like me bought it, thinking they would stand behind their product. >30% of the people polled here have major oil consumption issues.
At this point, the only thing I can do is tell everyone I know to avoid buying the plethora of used JK's on the market from these years because they are oil burners. Shame on Chrysler. Shame on me for buying into it.

damn...I would be livid at some of the oil consumption amounts you guys are reporting. I wonder what is causing so much usage? Worn rings with engines with less than 100k?
