I think I am tired of waiting and following the discussion about the Pentastar. I think I may just go find me a 2011 Rubicon and enjoy! Too many sold for people to really hate the engine that bad.

Pat & Milous - since both of you are in the same thread, any definitive or recent news on the first order date for the '12? One of you has mentioned the 6th and I think the other the 8th. It doesn't seem like a big difference, but when you're waiting, 2 days seems like forever.

Thanks

If you happen to be in Canada, you can order one right now. For the U.S. market, all I know is that they are close to wrapping things up for the order banks. The dates that are set in advance often change, I would expect that they will open the U.S. banks any day now, but it could be this week or next week.

And I'm guilty of posting your info over here previously so the good folks here could enjoy it as well

Milous, any word about Mineral Gray? That color looks great on the GC and thought it would be a good Wrangler color as well!!

Not Milous, but he did say on another board those are the only colors announced at the moment, and that other colors may become available later in the model year.

Hope that helps.

Mineral Gray will continue to be offered on the 2012 Grand Cherokee, but no word of it for the Wrangler. The color palette, as everyone is aware, is in disarray due to the earthquake, and will be for awhile longer. In two weeks Chrysler will be releasing the finalized colors for the 2012 models, but I don't expect there to be too many chance from the information that is currently available. Later in the model year I'm sure there will be some more changes.

I'm not sure who's in change of the paint department at Chrysler, and the reasoning behind why some vehicles get a wide selection of colors while others seem to always get not much more than variants of Black, Silver and Red. Even before the quake there have been endless paint color delays and erratic changes over the years.

Something tells me I'm not meant to have Detonator Yellow. I went to order an 11 at end of year and they were done. And now none in 12 at start. I'm going Green and I'm gonna love it.

Thanks Milous. Great info! It might, sounds promising. I'd have to see what that looks like. I'm also intrigued by Black Forest Green. Yellow and green are 1 and 1A on my list.

Do u think they'll release color samples? Or is there some other way to see these colors?

According to the Pentastar website here: Pentastar Website

Quote:
The Pentastar engines were created by Chrysler engineers to replace the V6 powerplants used by both Chrysler Group and Mercedes. By the end of 2012, it will be Chrysler’s sole V6.

I should have know it would be a Red Sox fan that would suggest that I made up the conversation with the Trainer. How did you know I was born in NYC and root for the Yankees. Seriously, I did speak with the Trainer and that is what he actually told me. I have since sent and email to Chrysler asking about the engine in the 2012 Wrangler and they said they cannot release any specs on the 2012 prior to the launch date so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

GO YANKEES!

In corporate-speak that's a definite confirmation of changes.

Everyone is sure the 3.6 will be in the 2012 Wrangler but you. They stopped production on the 3.8 2011 sales have shown a 23% increase over 2010 forcing them to move up the production date on 2012, because....THERE ARE NO MORE 3.8 ENGINES.
I did not say that I was not sure the Pentastar V6 would be in the 2012. I was only passing on a conversation I had with a Trainer. That's why I said "Don't Shoot the Messenger" I did send a email to Chrysler to see if they would share with me the specs for the 2012 but they said they could not release any information before the launch date. They did not share the launch date either. I for one hope the new engine is available in 2012. I simply thought that this is a Forum to share information and see if there is anything to confirm it or not. Contrary to what some people think on the Forum, the conversation with the Trainer actually did take place.

No one denies that you spoke to "a Trainer". But now that you've been given tons of reliable information from reliable sources, you still don't seem to get it!

So how does this work? If I want a Tan Rubicon, I have to order one by July during the production time or in June during the first month of orders or when will they cut me off from ordering tan?

If I were you, I'd order on June 6th to get into the first allocation. You won't necessarily know the cut off of when the dealer can order the next set of cars, and that could put you out of month 1 of production.

So what is it that I don't exactly get? I read all the responses to my original post and did not say that I don't believe them. I simply posted a conversation that I had with a Trainer that contradicted that information to see if anyone else heard similar information. So if there is anyone who doesn't get it its you.

Ha!

Black Forest Green is a lighter green than now I believe. It's a color they used to call New Frosted Green according to Milous. I think the word black here is referring to the black forest, not the color black. Maybe?

Dozer - is a Yellow. Used to be known as Graphic Yellow. It seems to be less bright and a little more orangness in it. Think construction equipment yellow which maybe why they called it Dozer.

But I've never seen these colors on a car or otherwise. So it's a guess.
