Door cracked open all night, does light go off?

Walking the dogs this morning I realized that one of my doors was not shut all the way last night. It was not fully latched and was cracked a little open for about 12 hours. Does the internal light go off after a period of time in this case or did my wife just almost kill a brand new battery?

To test I shut mine all the way and the odometer goes off and the dome lights shuts off in about 30 seconds. With the door closed to the first click only the odometer stayed on and the light stayed on past 1 minute until I fully closed the door. Then the light went off after 30 seconds again.

Whats the time line silver before it cuts off? I'm trying to see if it's a few minutes or a few hours or longer. I've always wondered about this.

Yea, it only a few minutes. Can be a little irritating if you are working in the jeep and need the interior light on.

Found this out in a similar manner... but the do turn off after a period of time (from the posts I'll trust 10mins is correct.) However... has anyone noticed that the interior lights stay off (even if you shut the door and re-open) until the ignition is cycled? Not an issue... but there was a bit of panic on my part with the electrical issues I experienced on my first JK.

^This surprised me the first time it happened. My initial reaction was like "WTF?"

Out of laziness I leave my door cracked all night in the garage, every single day. I would've killed my battery 150 times by now but yes, the lights definately shut off.

On another similar note, if you turn on the dome light on the lights/turn signal stalk, those will also turn of after some time. I believe 10 minutes also. I've done that a few times and woke up late at night thinking my battery would be dead in the morning

What about the lights that you can turn on by buttons on the sound bar? My daughter used to hit those sometimes crawling over from the back seat to get into the front seat and they'd stay on all night in our 2010. Hasn't happened in the 2013 yet to know if it's going to do the same. Any thoughts/experiences with someones post 2010?

Idk I have an 08 and it doesn't have buttons on the sound bar. Only way to turn them on for me is the stalk. Best way to find out would be to turn them on. If they aren't off in 20 minutes of the jeep sitting with no one touching doors, chances are they won't be turning off and it'll kill the battery.

Just a guess that the switch is hard wired as opposed to the stalk going through the computer first so the switch won't turn off by itself. Just speculation tho. Worth a shot to try it
