Door Hinge Overlays???

I took my doors off the new jeep for the first time this weekend and after reading threads about the hinges rusting just wondering if anyone has tried these
Rugged Ridge 11205.10 - Rugged Ridge Hinge Overlay Set in Textured Black for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec and if so do you like them. I'm wondering if using these right away will help the hinges from starting to rust soonner.

Thanks

I like the design.. thou the point is to be careful removing the torx screws.. once you break the paint your exposing them to the elements and thus to onslaught of rust after the fact.

My idea was to swap out my red hardware for someone's black hardware which we would have to do in stages, unless they completely removed or replaced it with all chrome hardware.

I have the same hinges on my hood but stainless but they are coming off because I ordered the actual stainless hinge where you replace the whole thing rather than over lays...I guess that I will find out if there is rust underneath or not!

I wouldn't bother with them...get the acual hinge instead!

I say you're actually better off just leaving everything where it is and plasti-dipping the factory hinges. Or removing them, bedlining them, and putting them back.

The most widely available replacement black hinges are by Omix-Ada (Rugged Ridge), and I had them for about a month. Not only were they expensive, but they rusted like crazy and came with terribly cheap mounting hardware.

The result was that I broke the factory paint seal and ended up putting the factory hinges back (after sanding, bedlining).

I would not recommend the RR replacement hinges under any circumstances.

I'm not gonna remove my hinges 'cuz I don't want to break the paint "seal" and allow moisture in. I'm gonna tape mine off and spray Rustoleum bedliner on them.

^^Best plan. Bedliner or plasti-dip, either way. Trust me, I've done it.

I believe the door hinges on the 2012's are forged aluminum. I read it on the sales brochure, doubtful they will rust!
