Door Hinges/rusting

I was wondering if someone could point me towards the direction of
A. repairing rusted door hinges
B. Finding a cheap alternate set that look nice

I have a 4 door 2008

I'd be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts your door hinges are NOT rusting, they are corroding.

Rust Bubbles on Door Hinges

Door hinge problem?

JK Door hinges rusting/pitting

Supposedly there was a TSB for the hinges for 2007-08, so you may check with your dealer and see if he can get them repaired under warranty.

Good luck!

The hinges are aluminum there not rusting . It poor prep from the factory . My hood hinges are my problem the paint is delaminating right off the hinge . Went to dealer to have them covered under "good will" but chrysler says no . I was going to replace them with kentrol ss hinges .but decided to spend more money and buy the aev hood and have the body shop repaint the hinges along with the hood

Galvanic Corrosion. Aluminum hinges onto steel body panel is causing the paint issue. I got all my hinges on my 2008 replaced under warranty at the time for the bubbling of the paint.

This is the problem. Chrysler was covering it under 3 yrs. unlimited mileage but you're way passed that. There is no TSB for it. However, the new ones through Mopar are now "steel".

What model year vehicles did Jeep begin installing the steel version of the hinges?

I've been waiting on to see if I've been approved for the repair on my '11 it's been almost two months. Hopefully the long wait concludes in my favor!

I know that there are steel replacements but as far as when or if there was a change I don't know. The 10 that I have the actual hinge portion is steel but the attachment on the door is aluminum. I haven't had any corrosion issues. You can do a magnet check.

Over the summer I met someone with inside knowledge of the wrangler factory. He confirmed for me that the issue is aluminum installed against steel, with no primer between.

I have two jeeps with this issue and I trust his assessment. Chrysler has repaired our 2013 twice and I am waiting for an opening in the body shop to have my 2014 fixed.

Starbrite just had this issue fixed on her 14, so I don't think they ever fixed the problem, imagine that.

No problem! I thought they'd both be fixed by now, too, but with the oil housing issues, my hinges got pushed to the back.
