Just another quick question on jk door removal, the power switch disconnect near the keeper strap. I attempt to try to disconnect it, but it wasn't budging or maybe I was disconnecting it properly. I also don't want to break it if I don't know what I'm doing. Can anyone give correct procedure on a safe disconnect on the power switch? Thank you.
Get a small flashlight. Get your head in there and look at the connector. There will be a red locking tab you need to slide open first. Then, you need to press on the connector release which is located just below the joint. You should not need a lot of force on the connector release. Once you have done this the first time you will be able to do it without looking. I do not slide the red tab back into engagement after disengaging. The connector lock is enough for me.
There's a little red tab that locks it into place. Pop that loose (it doesn't need to come completely out, but you'll feel it click over) then it's a typical squeeze-remove plug. If you have a hard top, it's like the connection for the rear wiper.
Once you slide that red connector to the other side(unlock), you will need to press firmly almost at the very bottom of the connector. It took me good 5-6 door removal days to spot that end. Before i found that sweet spot i had a hard time unlocking the connector- was frustrated. Once you found that spot it will come off very easy. As i said its at the very bottom. Good luck
