Door Storage in Jeep while Driving

2010 Jeep Wrangler Top Down & Doors Off

Wife & I are planning a trip in VA up Skyline Dr. However, I want to take the doors off as they have been now for 3 mths. However, the wife doesn't want to drive down I-81 for 2 1/2 - 3 hrs w/no doors. So the idea is. Doors on for I-81 portion but when getting to the south point of Skyline Dr, take the doors off. Has anyone out there put the 2 doors in the back of your Jeep while driving 100 + miles? What did you do to protect the doors? Pix's would help a lot. Thanks

I'm having the same problem with a buddy of mine.. Taking a trip from NJ to SC this week. I would just leave the doors home but there's rain storms on and off near the coast there. So far the only idea I have is to fold the back seat up, lay towels on the bed of the jeep and put the painted sides of the door facing the roll cage. I could then bungee them down to the bed and cage. Only problem is going to be space with the top down. I'm going to try it out tomorrow morning I'll post an update on how it worked out (or didn't work).

Tell 'em to tough'n up!

The doors will NOT fit in my JK 2dr, even without the back seat...

Used to do it in my YJ. Use soft blankets between the doors and you will be fine.
